Incredible that it's 2020 and people other than Razer/Logitech still put out keyboards that aren't QMK-based and can't be configured if you're not running Windows.
iamanJust for clarification: does this board just require Windows while programming, and from then on it remembers its settings in firmware on any OS; or does it need to be on Windows and run a driver to use the custom programming all the time?
DoverI don't have an answer to that. I'd assume it has onboard memory to store your layout, but I've seen some weird stuff when things have their own firmware/configuration tools.
I just had an order for 20 jade switches for a client board take 55 days to reach me after ordering off Banggood. I am unsure how much faster it is unless you pay 20 extra for air, and then that's still a 15-20 day guarantee. If you're in Amerika.
Why would anyone wait for this to drop for 80$ when it's literally on Amazon...right now? And Banggood? Kekw cmon Drop give us some better stuff than this. Keyboardphiles like me already got one shipping, you missed the ball harddddddd.
packdaddyI ordered one from KPRepublic when they dropped there a few weeks ago. They messaged me saying there's a recall. So... they're probably selling recalled boards.
cyperbunkDiscord group Wormier Gang is developing QMK for this board. Usable but do it at your own risk since it's not factory guaranteed. Also, led is still not qmk config yet.
JHandyThat's a hard, "kinda." The keyboard itself will work just fine, and it's quick to swap the Super/Alt keys to serve as Alt/Cmd from Mac settings - so no problems on that front. However, custom configuration software appears to be Windows only. Unless you have access to Windows, you won't be able to further customize the lighting or layers/macros/key reassignment (not sure how much functionality is built into this software package).
I did a little extra digging and found this board being sold by KPRepublic on AliExpress. On that page, it states, "32K ROM Saving Setting Function," which implies that they've added onboard memory for this model (if an owner could confirm, that'd be appreciated). If so, you could do your custom config from a Windows machine and it'd carry over to your Mac.
You get interference with R3 Cherry profile keycaps (i.e., GMK) and most switches with north-facing switches, where the keycaps slam into the top of the housing. There are a few switches with longer stems that don't have this issue, and there are mods that can be done to reduce the impact of it.
Here's a video which demonstrates this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bh93sXRh4x4
valcristonBad for Cherry/GMK, but fine for OEM and ideal for backlit OEM (the LEDs are closer to the legends).
Honestly this board isn't a good fit for GMK (or any highend non backlit keycaps), but it beats most gamer boards because it's hotswap and has enough LEDs to make Razer blush.
For those interested, there's an unofficial Womier keyboard discord server (https://discord.gg/q3mx3N). The folks there are working on a QMK port. Flashing your keyboard is at your own risk, and LEDs aren't supported yet.
WantonDumplingThat is awesome. It's just a little concerning finding a nice keyboard to then see "download the software from this Google Drive/Dropbox/Mega link". Plus I'm a Linux user and I don't know how well the Windows-only software would work on Wine.
hello i was wondering if people actually got the keyboard from banggood because people say it comes faster i was wondering if this keyboard is released or if this is a preorder for it
HippieChickenI ordered the hot swappable k66 from amazon and it came just a couple days later. Paid $79.99 though. With that being said, I think you can also find this model on Amazon as well.
