Doesn't seem to dissuade folks from buying Omega Speedmasters though, does it?
There are lots or reason to pass on this watch, but the crystal is not one of them. As I've stated many times before, under normal use, with a moderate amount of care and caution, non-sapphire crystals are NOT a concern. For those who have managed to accumulate a few light scratches, there are numerous videos showing how to clear things up with Polywatch or similar products.
For those who use their watches as demolition tools--better luck next watch.
PS: I have several watches with non-sapphire crystals (mostly Seiko Hardlex) and none of them have any scratches.
lamerI'm not selling watches, but for a guy who works out in the field (and apparently a clumsy one at that), what the hell are you doing looking at 1930's influenced dress watches?
You should get yourself a manly, modern watch that can take everything you can throw at it:

RayFI have both vintage and modern watches with polymethyl methacrylate crystals and agree 100%. They hold up very well and are easy to polish if, like me, you bang into things a lot. My Junghans is a good example, with a lovely domed crystal.
RayFHaha...certainly NOT clumsy! Can't afford to be. Ouch, that G-Shock hurt my eyes.
The bauhaus design inspired Junghans/Junkers/Nomos watches are beautiful...
mcloseThat's the closest looking watch to the microbrand Swiss Made Panzera Breuer 43, I have ,but it does have domed sapphire crystal, and also the eta 7750. Like the almost minimalist dial. Isn't this Junghans also running the 7750?
lamerThis is my beat up watch, I didn't want a Casio G shock or similar; this Inox is probably the closest thing to a durable watch available at a reasonable price. I am told they drive cars over them to check their toughness11 Should be okay for the "field work".
RayFJust got it from Certified watch store on chrono24, they sell new, and from what I can tell; refurbished watches! You have to look closely at which the watch is. I made sure this one was a "new one" as they had a "pre-owned " one at $50 or so cheaper. This one was $160 shipped(in US it's free shipping) and you can buy direct from Certified watch store: it did have the original bracelet with it ,which I swapped out. I had been looking at this watch for the last five years or so; but the price here :where we drive on the left side of the road!! was always from $500 usd. or so upwards. I got my Alpinas from the same store. So the quality is good.
I get the feeling that the watches that they sell as pre-owned and are most likely returns as they seem to be a large online store:
although I did find a pre-owned Seiko ssc675 solar chrono dive watch which I liked at around $160 usd. I was going to take a risk on it, as the lowest price I could find was out of JS, where they add on at least $50 usd for Australia, therefore around $310 usd or so, still double that of certified watch store, but in the time it took to check out this watch, it was sold!!
They also do seem to get "job lots" at a time as their tock changes frequently. 6 months ago Mido,Alpina and Victorinox were the most prevalent, but currently "Timex, and Swatch" ---shame!!
RayFYou can tell it's mine from the shirt cuff and matching blue alligator strap. BTW, this Junghans is 4.5 years old and the crystal is still pristine.
mclose@mclose Thank you - ubiquitous stucco walls where I reside are tough on plastic and quartz crystals. Glad that you do not suffer similarly. The stock photos do not reflect real world use, and many newcomers are unaware of the limitations.
Too bad the fuming troll can’t see past its own ego. MD forums were once useful for learning and sharing experience. Now it’s all so much puffery.

As far as I remember people who hung out in stucco walled environs were more likely to excise caution as they drug their watches along those walls. You're entitled to be clumsy, just not to blame others for it—especially me!
