This is a sad update for their 10 Year and for the Drop Keyboard Club. I don’t understand who they are trying to market to anymore. I really want a reason to continue to buy from Drop, and was hoping this would give us a sign of life. Instead it’s just more of the same stale boring product and awful attempt get people to join a club where it doesn’t seem like there is any real benefit to make it worth it. Sorry Drop, you are losing the plot. The same promos and more unexciting products for the 10 Year just seems so sad.

VisionsofreptarSurprised to see this. We’ve received lot of great feedback on reasons to join Keyboard Club. Can you let me know what you’d like to see to feel there’s a benefit? Happy to improve it. Also, while we are on it. Each month we launch number of new products. This year alone there will be close to 50 Drop branded product launches, along with everything from our 3rd party partners. What product launches you’d like to see?
Jyri_DropThis is off the top of my head since I didn’t know that you guys have no idea how you are viewed by the overall community. If you only hear and trust your positive feedback you are getting a very poor picture of how this company is viewed by the community. I also want to stress I really don’t want to dislike a company, I just want a reason to buy and there to be real competition in the market. Look at what your competitors are doing in this space to excite the community. Even Glorious is heading in the right direction. I can count on one hand the number of interesting keyboard related products you guys have released this past year. Lord of the Rings stuff makes sense and is a good use of the buying power of Drop but not my thing. Holy Panda X is a better idea too, but probably a little too late to get the hype it once could have. However, things like your Drop keyboard lineup is severely outdated and overpriced, again look at similar priced keyboards and compare them to the product you are putting out for the price it sits at. Also the biggest draw to the Keyboard Club is a monthly coupon, so you aren’t rewarding Club Members for buying more than one product a month. Even if I wanted two sets, why would I buy both in one month instead of just wait? There’s not a “the more I purchase, the more I save” value proposition for a paid membership. And that’s the only true value of the DKC, everything else is just a giveaway most won’t win or benefit from for $50-$70 for a membership that autorenews. It all seems like a community ran by people who aren’t fans of the community itself, so it comes across as out of touch with the fans of that space. And again, if this is surprising to you read, then you guys need to spend more time looking at the competition and the community, because this isn’t a new idea or opinion.

VisionsofreptarAgreed with the club part. Feels kinda boring with only a coupon per month. Spice it up!
VisionsofreptarTo me, that sounds like a whole lot meh and (younger) generational expectations of privilege. Hey, I am trying to be polite here but the comments all across the site seem exceptionally juvenile to me. If they do not sound so whiny to you, maybe that is a start of our differences. That and I turn 66 this week. And I had major surgery three weeks ago and the serious narcotics just do not work like they used to. peace. ciao
GenjokoanI can see why you’d feel that way, but all feedback is valuable, not just positive gushing over posts/products. Negative feedback is important for growth too. I think it comes down to they are a business competing for the Mech and Audiophile community dollars, a very popular space now. Drop used to be the place to go for stuff like this, but it has a feeling of regression over 10 years, not growth for both enthusiasts and beginners. As I bring people into both hobbies, Drop used to be THE place to buy from. Now it’s not even mentioned. I want them to grow, I don’t want more of the same. They can keep focusing on those who love the current direction, that’s fine. They just need to know why others aren’t interested in buying from them, it’s just as important.
VisionsofreptarThis is all very valuable input. We love to hear feedback and start conversations. Few things I want to note:
  1. I don't like comparing competitors but Glorious to me is more about keyboards. This is something we are working on. I wish we could have done something sooner but COVID, other delays etc. The usual. However I think you'll be excited once we are able to release the updates. We've done lot of work on keycaps, and one of the main focus areas has been to introduce Mechanical Keyboards and keycaps to new users. We have the widest collection of premium keycaps in stock. We are not a massive company so putting focus in one area takes time and effort away from the other. Not an excuse, this is a decision we made. But keyboards are coming! Appreciate your feedback.
  2. If you're also referring to our Icon collection keyboards - these are designed for users who are getting into the hobby. Clearly not for someone who is experienced with mechanical keyboards, such as you. Feedback well taken.
  3. I like your feedback about the DKC coupon. In fact I like it a lot. Clearly we need to bring more value to DKC members. I promise we will do this.
  4. Sad to see this comment. In fact most of us are enthusiasts in Mechanical Keyboards and Audiophile products. I hope we can change your opinion in the coming months.
Again, truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
asdasd32423Appreciate for joining the convo. I'll make sure we'll provide more perks to DKC members!
Jyri_DropThanks for your reply. I get the benefit of doing a monthly coupon means it’s continuous revenue on a monthly basis as people need to buy over four months of $20 coupons to break even or benefit from spending the yearly membership, but I’d rather have more a percent discount, exclusive discounts, or exclusive sales as an example of benefits than just a recurring single item coupon. I think the problem with the Drop CTRL, SHIFT, and ALT boards is I can’t think of a reason to recommend it to a beginner over any other board at a similar price point. If there is more exciting things to come, that’s awesome to hear. Again, I’ve spent plenty here in the past and and happy to spend more, just give me a reason. I would love to look back on my comments in the coming year and be proven wrong by my comments about the communities. Please make me eat my words!

VisionsofreptarWe are working on the exclusive discounts and -sales. These will happen, however I get the feeling that we should do more of these. Which is a good problem to have. :-) One other thing I'd like to remind that as a DKC member you get 5% in Drop rewards back on every purchase. Non-DKC member gets 3%. I will bookmark this page and I will come back to you later this year! Again, thank you for the conversation.
