If You Can Only Have One Headphone...

...what would you choose and why? Obviously, I'm speaking to those who have multiple headphones. The main rule of this post is that it must be a headphone that you own (bonus points for picture!). Also, in the context of this post, this would be the only headphone you would ever have! The headphone in question can be of any type: over-ear, on-ear, or IEM. For me personally, if I was being more rational about it I would pick the Sennheiser HD 6XX for its scalability, versatility (actually makes surprisingly good out-and-about headphones provided you don't mind the open-back), and ability to make everything sound good. However, I just don't love the HD 6XX like I love my LCD-3; its sound just hits all the right buttons for me.

I am still searching for the one, but I would say it will likely be a closed-back planar. I have a moded T50RP at work with a Schitt Stack. I have Hifiman Sundara at home with a Topping D30 Pro and A30 Pro.

These, MOOH-BE00BT Beryllium Acoustic Bluetooth headphones, were cheap, $50 here at Drop, and are currently nestled in my Focal ELEX, (on top of my PC) which I bought 2nd hand as Drop cannot ship Focal's to Europe. They wouldn't ship the BE00BT either, but I wanted them so badly having been searching for a pair for years, that I used the American In laws to redeliver them. In person they are cheap and plastic, (my son broke them, I gaffer taped them back together again) though the ear pads are good as I replaced them with ZMF Ori Suede pads. The sound however is gorgeous. They're a 45mm Beryllium driver, and they make live music sound like you're in the room. It's only Bluetooth 4, but that doesn't matter as I drive them via cable. I've never even charged them. You have to hear Muddy Waters Live through these things to believe them. They have an amazing natural sounding low end, and great mids, fast, taught response and you can wear them for hours. Sound isolation is also good, and they can be driven by anything, but the more more power the better IMO. I have them them hooked up to a Dragonfly Black DAC, plugged into the front of my PC at present. I have many others, The ELEX, the HE4xx, the One MoreTriple Driver over ear, the Blon BL30, a Helios, a Grado mod, with Symphones 8.0 drivers, and Chocalobo cups, and I'd take the sound of Beryllium over any of them. https://drop.com/buy/m-o-mooh-be00bt-headphones

My HiFiMAN HE4XX purchased from Drop is just a touch too bright (2dB at 3kHz), and just a little too inefficient (just 3dB more would be nice). Compared to my previous preference, the Sennheiser HD-650s, the HE4XX has a tighter and more extended bass (the 650s are 'wooly' and loose in that regards), but the treble just a touch too forward and unforgiving (something the 650s does better). So my vote will be for the newer HiFiMAN HE-X4 release. It is said to fix both those issues that I get - hopefully! I guess I will just have to buythe HE-X4 and try it out... Anyone looking for a "as new" used HE4XX? ;-) .
My empyreans just because they are incredibly comfy all day headphones and sound the best with the most tupes of music. They do everything pretty well and some things incredibly well (metal/edm). I love my audezes but they are tougher to wear for more than 6 hours at a time. Still pretty comfy just heavy.

I love my Focal Clears. The detail is amazing. Clear and precise. The way they presents drums and piano is incredible. My other pair I have that I love are my Monolith M1070. Not as detailed as the Clears, but they have a nice, smooth sound that I actually prefer on some recordings. If I had to choose only one though, it would have to be the Focal Clears.

While I love my LCD-3, I would probably upgrade to the ZMF Verite or Final Audio D8000 Pro. I have tried the LCD-4, but its soundstage feels a bit more intimate than my LCD-3 and just slightly less sweet in timbre.
