Tuned From the Ground Up

Bit by bit, we’re working to build an IEM that’ll deliver a great sound, a great fit, and a great price to match. We’re tuning the sound signature from the ground up to be clear, full, layered, and fun with plenty of impact and bass extension. To achieve this, we’ll be using three Sonion balanced-armature drivers per ear. A little background on the evolution of balanced armatures: When the first custom IEMs were made, they leveraged the same balanced-armature technology that was already being used in medical amplification devices. However, these are focused on a limited frequency range (primarily vocals), so their driver layout can be fairly simple. When that technology was applied to the world of high-end audio gear, specifically gear used by musicians, manufacturers found they needed multiple drivers to cover a wider frequency range.
