Beyer's website says that inline DAC/amp puts out a max output of 7mW at 600ohm. The T1 swings as high as 1400 ohm at 100hz. Innerfidelity measured the wattage needed to reach 90db at 1khz (665 ohms) as .18mW. That means dynamic swings (+20db from that reference) will require over 20mW of power, something I don't think the Impacto can deliver based on it's specs. Are you running any EQ on your system?

ElectronicVicesI’m running no eq. Just using supplied cables to hook up on my iPhone , Android tablet running tidal. I only use impacto when traveling. I definitely think you are on to something about the measly power for driving T1’s. I did utilize impacto to drive my meze noir 99’s . The detachable cables are the same size. However because the 99’s cable contact point is deep within the woodcups the fit is jammed in without a solid click. However, the sound seems to not be effected. The impacto’s drive The 99’s wonderfully . Plenty of power with the great resolve of the impacto dac taking over the digital conversion from the iPhone. But ultimately,I want the sound of the T1’s when I’m traveling and by myself doing work. They are many notches above the Meze. I just want to be able to figure out a way to utilize the impacto as a dac and add more power from another source.

CohoIf no eq then there isn't a pre-amp level drop in signal level (most EQ's have this inbuilt now to avoid clipping). You may want to look at some of the FiiO/Topping offerings for portable amps. I think you are just a little bit shy of the power needed for the T1. I've never really tried running the T1 from my portable sources. If I get a moment I will try to use my V20 with my T1 as the V20 puts out roughly 2 Vrms which would yield just below 7mW at 600 ohm. Should be a fairly comparable test to the impacto.

ElectronicVicesI’ve tried to utilize both the FiiO q5 and a5’s. But because the impacto only utilize lightening , micro usb etc as input. Cannot use either of devices with impacto. I need a portable amp that has a usb out...seems everything only has usb, mico, lightening as an input..and rca, se 3.5, bal 2.5 or optical as output.

CohoCompletely missed that this doesn't have a removable jack at the output side of the DAC/AMP, yeah not sure where you will go from here. I don't normally recommend it but you could try the volume normalizer settings that Tidal and Spotify provide. This might boost the signal level and get you where you need to be.

ElectronicVicesThanks for the help. I’m thinking this impacto should not have been paired by beyerdynamics with a 600 ohm Headphone. I actually can’t believe the beyerdynamic sound engineers would let this happen. I bought as a matched set ...they actually have a name for this “ The Curtis Beyerdyamics T1 with Universal Impacto “ for a retail $1399.00. What was I thinking when I bought this?

CohoI wouldn't beat yourself up over it, I agree Beyer should have been more a little more thorough. Given that they also market this for the T5p, Amiron and whatever the heck that on ear is called the T1 is vastly different than the other headphones as far as amplifier load goes. Loads north of 300ohm are pretty difficult for many amplifiers that aren't full blown desktop models.

ElectronicVicesI have read that there is a volume limiter in the Impacto to comply with EU regulations. Google it, but I think you need to press and hold the volume button or something to override it.
