We need a "Drinking Mans" Community!

more_vert
Okay, girls can play too, but the essence of the group should be a common interest in all things related to making, serving and enjoying a good cocktail with friends--or alone as the case may be (I know when I drink alone, I like to be by myself, but that's another story--back to the Community).
I've noticed several websites cropping up over the last few months that cater to cocktail paraphernalia: hard to find ingredients, drink appropriate glassware, shakers, utensils, interesting (even daring ) recipes, stuff I wasn't even aware of or wouldn't have known where I could find it if I was. Sites like "Keg Works" and "Behind the Bar" are two examples the come to mind, but I'd bet the the community knows several others.
How come I can find Crockpots and Cheese Graders in the Cooking Community, but I can't find a Single Malt Glass, or a Mint Julep Strainer anywhere on MD? Heck, I even checked the Quilting Community!
Seems to me Massdrop is the perfect environment for collecting, presenting, and supplying items of interest to men and women interested in sharing a drink or two (metaphorically, at least), on line.
What say you?

I'd be down for just different varieties of scotches and bourbons. I visit KY a lot but I'd like to sample more Japanese whiskey's. Maybe even a group buy on some Pappy...
Hell, I'd settle for more Blanton's if places would stock it again. It's sush a pain to trackit down and it really isn't top shelf. It is good though for the dollar.

It's a win-win. Drunk people buy useless crap... er, make that wonderful drops, in the middle of the night and we get lower drop prices from increased participation! LOL

BF_HammerAgreed--no idea why it's taking them so long to get it up and rolling?
Can we get a "How to Survive an Alcohol-Related Motor Vehicle Crash" thread going too? As an E.R. doc, I would most CERTAINLY enjoy participating in that.

I just started a similar discussion from a whiskey and fine spirits standpoint. I'd love to get some niche spirits which are always cheaper in bulk, also would love to see more bar related items.

I don't see why they couldn't, they sell knives which have a lot of international shipping laws that restrict shipping to select countries, I'm sure they could apply the same logic here. There are plenty of online liquor stores who ship internationally.
I'd love some more hand cut crystal tumblers myself! And some proper whiskey stones that don't absorb odor or flavor

TazorAnd I'm always looking for the perfect set of double old fashioned glasses, and a nice decanter or two. Then there's mixing glasses, weighted stir spoons, shot glasses, measuring tools--the mind reels! To sell and ship booze, you need licenses in each shipping and destination state. Can be done, just needs to be cost effective and do-able (liquor stores don't like competition). But there's a lot of stuff in between the bottle and the lip that can be sold!
