Replacement earpads for my Grado HF-2 headphones

more_vert
I am looking for replacement pads for my Grado HF-2 cans. Do you guys have any recommendations? They use the L cushions I was told by Grado support. I'm just not a fan of their pads. Will the Dekoni pads work, and if so, which model? If not, what other drops would have worked so I can keep my eye out for a new drop (and request one now). Thanks for the help.

Hi Roxanne, I own two Grado headphones and I do not like the L cushions either. I have also tried the G cushions but in the end I opted for the cheaper solution, which is the S cushions (comfi) from Grado. I have also read that the replacement earpads for the Sennheiser HD 414 may work for all Grados as well. However both solutions look cheap (in particular the yellow cushions for the Sennehiser HD 414) and may not be the best match for a pair of expensive headphones. I haven´t seen Dekoni pads for Grado yet. Another option can be found here: https://www.beautifulaudio.biz/grado-earpads-headbands I have read good feedback of these pads in several forums. They are handmade and look stilish and of very good quality. But bear in mind that even the manufacturer admits that they can slightly change the sound profile. Hope it helps Jose Pedro

I actually bought hybrid round pads (regular sized) and they were super easy to put on the Grados. To me the resulting sound tempered a bit of the high frequencies, which I liked, but other people may not. To frame it up, I have Senn 650s and Audeze LCD-X as my other cans and each bring something different to the table. I prefer the Audeze (as I should given the price disparity) but they are a load on top of the noggin'. Anyway, the Brainwayz pads are very comfortable and I am quite pleased with them on the Grados. The people at Brainwayz were patient with me and answered all my emails. Interestingly it was very hard, in fact impossible, for me to get earpad measurements from Grado when I was trying to determine what earpads (other than Grado's) would fit. the HF-2. I thought that so strange. It all worked out in the end. CS=customer service

roxanneHahahaha...customer service!...as a Spanish native speaker I´m not fully used to common abbreviations.... Well, curious to note, I tried to help you by giving you some information/tips and you ended up being the one giving useful information to me, as I did not know that Brainwavz made round-shaped earpads. Thank you very muchy indeed, I just noted it down in my audiophile notebook for a next ocassion. Btw, I also have (among others) the HD650 (massdrop 6xx actually) and I love them, they offer a laid-back, lush and warm sound, completely different to the Grados´. But these sonic differences are precisely the charm of the hobby, and what keeps many people moving in search of the Holy Grail of the ultimate sound experience... Best regards Jose Pedro.
