After roughly 13 years my old Creative headphones broke down so the hunt for a new pair led me to this HD 58X Jubilee open back headphones. Hi buddy! Enjoy your stay :D

There are really no bad choices here moving up from a std. PC. The O2 is in the "objectiveness" region, "wire with gain", better I feel anyway until you get bored and want more knobs & buttons to poke - screens to watch and have the money to pay for them... The std. Grace DAC is also in the same camp,, though I feel that without having as least the option of DSD, it's limiting, even for a first. FLAC at 24/96 is fine,, but there is more, right there to be had. The new balanced Grace DAC looks inviting, though you would have to wait... I got my Son as a present an Audio-gd R2R 11, along with an Audeze EL-8 HP as a gift. I am still very much liking what the R2R 11 does, plenty of power and the more "life" in SQ, that you get from a ladder DAC. The EL-8 is also quite nice, the BMW engineered design is the nicest I have seen so far. Willing to take some risk, from an unknown blogger? Essentially skipping some hardware, you will soon find yourself moving on from? A decent USB is important, it is an isochronus one-way street for data in the music world, no checking for bad or missing data, just mute or play something close is what a DAC does here. A good player is your key setup in the PC, to properly feed to the DAC. http://www.audio-gd.com/R2R/R2R11/R2R11EN.htm

rastusThanks for the taking the time for sharing your experience. Think I really need to research any purchases thoroughly, there's plenty to choose from which is good but also make things much harder - paralysis by analysis -.
