THX789 vs. ifi Zen Can?

more_vert
Currently running HD6XX and HE5XX (18 ohm, 93 db/mw) from Zen DAC and Schiit Magni 3+. Looking to buy a balanced amp to 1) take advantage of the balanced output from the Zen DAC and 2) have both balanced and SE switchable inputs so I can switch between my phono preamp and the DAC without plugging/unplugging RCA's each time. So I'm looking at either the Zen Can or the 789. The THX is obviously a lot more powerful and measures much better, but costs almost twice as much. I am wondering if the Zen Can is powerful enough for the HE5XX (the amp looks to be current-limited. It puts out 1890 mw at 64 ohms but only 1150 mw at 32 ohms. Idk enough about audio equipment to know exactly what this indicates, but the THX puts out 6W around that impedance, so it obviously has enough to drive the low-impedance Hifimans). Also wondering if I should expect a big/noticeable difference in sound quality between the Magni, Zen, and/or THX. Is the THX worth the extra 150$? Any insights welcome! Thanks!

I havent heard the zen can but you will not regret getting thx. And if you want to add some flavor(bass boost for example) you can add a graphical equalizer.
