I don't want to be that "guy" but Schiit doesn't do any kind of sales, period. https://www.schiit.com/about/about/on-deals We get asked all the time about deals, sales and other incentives, such as Black Friday specials, EZ credit, trade-ins, monthly payments, purchasing with 2 cards, and a whole raft of other “can I get a better price” questions. So, here’s the deal: We don’t do deals.

Yeah back in the day they used to be much cheaper. Luckily I got my pair 2 years ago and was like $30 cheaper than what they are on here for now.

You know what Drop should do? Buy in bulk the Schiit Modius and Magnius from the official Schiit site. Re-package and resell it on Drop for 15% more. Aaaaaaaaand people will still buy it thinking it's a deal. Profit. He said he wanted a Drop, not a deal. P.S. Hey Drop, can I get a 2% commission per sale for this idea? P.P.S. Joking only! No, don't do this it would be foolish and unethical.

Haha. What wouldnt be unethical would be just to collaborate with schiit and sell at full price....no discounts. I mean we can buy schiit stuff on a lot of online stores. What makes drop different if you sell at full price?

Actually, they’d have to raise the price by about 50% as it’s a ‘Drop exclusive,’ and then put it on sale at 25% off! 😂 So, if it was a $100 piece of gear at a 50% mark-up we’d have a ‘regular’ price of $150, but 25% off we arrive at a ‘sale’ price [for a limited time only of course] of $112.50. That yields an additional $12.50 in profit, but these numbers are only an example. 💰 Yes, peeps would pay $112.50 + S&H for a $100 piece of gear that’s likely to go on a ‘Black Friday-weekend-extravaganza sale’ in a couple of months anyhow, but Drop would need to say something like this to put the icing on the salesmanship cake: Crafted in collaboration with Schiit Audio, we bring you this very special, limited edition, piece of Schiit for a short while only. Once they’re sold out — they’re done — a final order goes to the manufacturer for the Drop.

We added our Drop signature build quality with further enhancements for the audiophile enthusiast, but at a far lower price. We worked with Schiit to add new, more durable connections. While we were at it we swapped out the balanced audio connectors with 1/4-inch single ended outputs as nobody uses balanced audio anyways. Yes, we throw in a versatile 24k gold platted 1/4-inch to 3.5mm connector. The adapter is our gift to you. We also upgraded the potentiometers, so now you’ll experience a clean and very robust volume curve with Alps pots. Finally, we added a bit of heat shrink to the ends of the cables ensuring more durability and less wear for many years to come. Yada yada. Sale… and Sold Out! 😂 Yes. This was a parody. No disrespect to Drop’s process as I’ve purchased some myself, and have been very happy with past ‘exclusives!’ My only worry with Schiit is some huge drama back in 2011 when their Asgard amps were spiking voltage on power off resulting in some fried drivers in very expensive headphones. NwAvGuy was banned at Head-Fi after discovering the problem, since he’s an actual engineer and tried explaining the root cause from an engineer’s perspective. He claimed Schiit is a sponsor of Head-Fi, so they didn’t like the bad publicity. You can read about it all here if you’d like. I do know that they ended up taking responsibility and fixing it, but I’ve also heard many good things about Schiit. I just wanted to weigh-in on both sides as I’ve never personally used any of their products. Would I want the Drop? No. I have found other really great products with some at ridiculously low prices, but with incredibly good engineering and craftsmanship behind them. These are just something that I wouldn’t need, but as a ‘gear head’ would consider if the price was right. Drop has some crazy price drops here and there, so it’s best to strike then! The O2 amps are one of the best amps I’ve ever used, and I ❤️ mine! The simplicity is so elegant, and the sound so good! 😊 Simple is almost always better. I already had THX and one of those cheap VE Odyssey DACs, and they’re both great! To put the icing on the cake, I added a Chinese preamp with genuine OEM GE JAN 5654W tubes (NOS). With IEMs, it sounds fantastic! I keep it on my nightstand to chill to before bed or just when I want to relax and zone out to some tunes. The entire preamp setup was $50, BTW, and made a ginormous difference with the sound! This is the only reason I’d say to save your money on the boutique stuff. Get a Grace SDAC (next time it comes around) + O2, or even an Odyssey (they start at $10! And, yes they work well!) & O2. Read NwAvGuy’s Blog, it really will amaze you regarding product selection! That’s it. Just a paragraph or two for the serious Schiit (yes, oh, gawd, I ❤️ puns!) Stay Safe, and Be Well. 👋 Peace out. ✌️ Edit - 8/29: Changed Grace “ODAC” to “SDAC” as it should be. Sorry. Thanks! 👌

Right now one of my setups is Drop + THX + Chinese Preamp with really awesome tubes (GE JAN 5654W, NOS)… and it sounds great! 👍 Sometimes I’ll even just bypass the THX and connect to an iPhone 6S Plus or iPod Nano Gen.2 [sic] and still sounds phenomenal! Those Wolfson DACs were amazing and still sound great today! 👍 P.S. If not familiar with these tubes, they were used by the military, primarily between the 40’s & 60’s on some high end tech. You can still get them NOS or “New Old Stock” boxed, tested, and in matched pairs! I handed a pair of Koss KPH30i’s to my 23 year old daughter and said in as few words as possible tell me what it sounds like. Her reply was “like at a concert, live, how does it sound like it’s filling the space around me?!” 😮 (The tubes were a big part of it, plus careful tweaking, I actually wrote-up a preamp guide to post on this forum, but have to do a final edit.) ✍️ And, remember, bypassing the THX (or source/DAC), we’re only talking around $200 in gear here (O2, Preamp, Koss Headphones)! 👍

See my comment below on killer sound on a budget. I actually wasn’t even aiming for a budget, what was hooked up at the moment just worked out really well and at a great price! ✌️
