Can I use an Earstudio ES100 MK2 with a turntable?

more_vert
Hi, I'm very new to audio. I was just wondering if there is a way to connect the es100 mk2 dac amp into a turntable with a built-in preamp or if there is a way to bypass the dac in it or something like that.

I’m a fan of the little ES100’s (I have 3 of them for various uses). I don’t believe it’s the best device for what it sounds like you’re trying to do. If you’re trying to play your turntable through your headphones, a simple headphone amp with a line level input would be your best bet. The ES100 will accept audio from a USB connection (like your computer). However, to use this concept to connect it to your turntable would require some odd gadgetry (e.g. analog to digital/USB converter or a high quality Bluetooth transmitter), lots of cables and high potential for signal loss. If your turntable has an internal preamp that provides a line level output (tape or aux level) try one of Drop’s headphone amps. The Drop 02 might be a good budget option to start with.
