Closed Back Headphone Recommendations

more_vert
Hi everyone, I am in need of a recommendation for closed-back headphones. I use my HD6XX daily and love them, but recently my housemates have been making a lot of noise due to work. Being open back, I can hear everything and I am looking for more isolation. I purchased the BD DT 770 Pro (250 ohms), and I absolutely hate the sound. I decided to give them a break in chance and now I can't return them. I do not like the Dt770 because they sound way too sharp and most modern music sounds so piercing; Even songs that I think sound great on my 6xx... Are there any recommendations for better closed-back headphones that sound more neutral or have an emphasis on mids? Headphones must be under $299.

The DT770 600 ohm are far superior to the 250 ohm.

Check DIY Audioheaven site, Solderdude has a lot fixes and mods for a lot of headphones. Maybe slapping different pads can get them into line. I have DT880-600 and it also spends most of the time in the storage - the Himalayan trebles and no upper mids is my biggest issue. And Sennheisers are more comfy.

pliedtkaThanks, I’ll have to check them out. It seems you have similar preference as me! Yeah those highs start to hurt especially on some jazz solos.
