Hopefully there will be some extra keys with deep dishes or homing bumps for the home row keys. For blank sets substitute eight deep dish keys or two homing bump keys. For keys with legends add some extra keys with homing bumps for the most common layouts: FJ for QWERTY, UH for DVORAK, TN for COLEMAK.

wjanssensI don't know if this vote thread is even monitored anymore, now that several rounds of caps have actually been offered, but FWIW...

I scavenged a set of labeled caps from a used Cherry G81-7000 I got off eBay (its otherwise-terrible Cherry MY keyswitches happen to use MX-compatible caps), and this came with deep-dish homing caps for F and J only, which I find quite sufficient for homing (you only need to pay attention to lining up one finger per hand rather than all 4 fingers) and better than homing bumps.

I think if Massdrop ever offers a labeled set, in order to be readily adaptable to any desired layout, they would have to be DSA profile and label only the 1x caps. The set could include deep-dish homing caps for FJ, UH, and TN (as you suggest), but leave the 1.5x and 2x keys blank; since the latter would likely have the most variety in custom key assignments.

SubGothiusFair enough. Seems I'm always late to the party :)

I just mention the 8 dishes since that's what my Kinesis has but a single bump is just fine as you said. Personally I'm fine with blank caps since I don't use Qwerty and never look at the keys.

It's too bad I don't have any keyboards to scavenge from since it seems like a royal pain to obtain caps and most of the cheap sets on ebay are DCS with different profiles for each row and would still leave you missing some of the 1.5x and 2x.

wjanssensWhere do you see these cheap DCS keycaps on ebay? Or what terms do you search for them, cause I've only been able to find regular OEM profile caps.

darkfire32I just searched for key caps mx and sorted by price. But you are right, they are OEM profile and not all that much cheaper than ordering for signature plastics. These, for example (37 caps for $19), are what I was referring to earlier: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Cherry-MX-Blank-Keycaps-37-Set-Keyboard-Key-Caps-/111063523722?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item19dbe6e18a

Since posting I've ordered my Ergodox with caps included. I may order a DSA blank set base from SP for some homing nubs and a different color since that's the best value (56 caps for $18) on caps I've been able to find (http://keycapsdirect.com/marketplace.php). Ordering a full set of caps to fit Ergodox from SP works out more than the caps offered in the drop.
