Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

I purchased the first generation Aune T1 offered on Massdrop back in 2014. Is it worth upgrading to this newer model? What will I gain? I've read there may be better USB DAC options for my setup, but the tube is pretty darn cool for the warm sound, and in all honesty I like the aesthetics. I've always wanted to roll tubes, but have also read it doesn't make much difference on the first gen so haven't bothered.
I currently use the T1 purely as a USB DAC from my office workstation which then runs to my amp via RCA. This drop's price is definitely worth considering if there are benefits, as are other potential recommendations. I do not currently use headphones but am always considering getting some.
I'm rebuilding my office right now so it's a great opportunity to upgrade before rewiring the room. Other recommendations are appreciated.
I am a tinkerer by trade, so opening and modding options are also of interest.
Thank you.
I Just got a used one today, to do just this, to my third now.
Worst case, you fry the thing,,, you can buy a new one for $164.99... and try again;) my last one was made far easier fitting the larger caps in, by moving some smaller ones to the top of the board "tube-side", now it's "In like Flint"...
