Love the look and feel of vintage typewriters, but need something more practical for everyday use? Look no further than the Azio Retro Classic: a backlit mechanical keyboard inspired by the late 19th century’s writing machine of choice Read More
This board is fascinatingly grotesque! Props to the members who buy it if the leather version's a one-off.
I wouldn't mind owning the "posh" version -- if only to make others uncomfortable.
One question: are the LEDs white and is the leather real? I say one question because the answer to the second question is probably no (or, as the French would put it, non).
The only things I dislike about this board is the rivets and the leather, I like the cleaner look of the original retro, but this one has backlighting.
Edit: I also don't like the fact it doesn't use standard MX Style Switches and instead uses something similar to Romer-G.
A word of warning for anyone looking at purchasing. Because the edges of the key caps aren't beveled like a normal key, all the keys sit flat and closer together, so you need to be very accurate as to not hit more than one key at a time. It took me a little while to adjust.
I dig premium materials and non-conventional switches, so this sounds like just my kind of thing. I hope it's still on the market however many years from now I wind up having spare money again.
SpecTPRomer-G style wouldn't have any extra keys available due to it's own rather unique stem.
Although you can buy extra key-sets from Logitech, who happen to use that very same switch design. Although pure speculation on my part here.
