One of a half-dozen Bestech knives I have added to my collection. This one is a stunner! Like all my Bestechs, this has extraordinary fit and finish. Super smooth opening, locking, and unlocking. Nice touch on the golden anodized back spacer. I own many Benchmade (all U.S. made) and Spyderco (all U.S. or Japan made) knives, and this brand rivals the quality of those knives. Hard to believe it is made in China, but the nice part is that "China" is not to be seen marked anywhere on the knives themselves (just the box). Stout, heavy, but a work-of-art workhorse worthy of any collection.

This is a fantastic knife for the money. Sheepsfoot or Wharncliffe blades don't often appeal to me; however the more I kept seeing this, the more the funky blade shape kept growing on me. Given the price, I decided to take a chance. So glad I did - good action, nice hand-feel, great lock up and blade centering. Plus, it's fun having such a distinctive blade compared to my stable of Spydies, Kizer, Rike, Kershaw, etc.
I also originally bought it for hard-use scenarios, as I don't typically use my more-expensive knives for really aggressive stuff. However, it's too nice for this, so I'll keep using a Kershaw or CRKT for that and keep this Hornet in my EDC rotation.
Bought the green Hornet - may grab a red on a future drop. Great knife.

c4tm4nblu3I bought green too. Most of my knives are black or grey. Green was a nice addition.

A solid 4 stars for this one. The only complaint i could find was with the detent strength. It easily shakes open with no more than wrist action. I tried every trick I know and it improved some, but not enough... Something just isn't lining up QUITE right with the ball and the hole, so it's not getting full engagement. I removed a small burr from the lockbar near the detent ball, that helped the most. Then increased the locker tension some, that helped a bit. Even removed the stop pin to test, that did nothing... Seems to be off a hair from side to side, not front to back. I'll have to play more later, not ready to drill a wider hole just yet.
Aside from that though, everything else on the knife was flawless. The action is ridiculously good (even with the weaker detent and the fact that it's running on the plastic caged bearings instead of the brass caged ones I usually prefer from them). Blade centers perfectly and came respectably sharp with even grinds and bevels. Tight tolerance with all the pins and standoffs. Hardware was good on this one, didn't have a single screw I feared stripping like I have in a couple of their other knives. D shaped pivot with matching hole for pivot pin alignment and no spinning during adjustments. Machining on the G10 is all clean. Liners are all beveled and polished, and skeletonized. Titanium backspacer is nicely polished and evenly anodized.
It's still a massive and funky knife lol but for what it is, it's done very well. At this price it's a no-brainer if you like the looks. And in hand it feels like it could be way more useful than what it looks at first glance. Ergonomics are great for both a full handle grip or choked up past the flipper using the finger choil

It's basically my one main complaint about the brand, the detent strength seems to vary wildly between different examples of the same knives

Wonderful flipper. Great blade centering, good dentent, very smooth action, rock solid lockup. No blade play. Beautiful chamfering on all areas of contact. How does Bestech do it at this price? Great feel in the hand. Your forefinger could get a bit sore from the addictive flipping action because of the jimping on the back of the handle. But I wouldn’t change the jimping since it is key to the comfortable grip. I am VERY impressed with Bestech. Earlier I joined the Mass Drop on the Bestech Star Fighter. ALSO a five star flipper. I am inclined to trust Bestech to deliver a superior product. Thank you Bestech— you rock.
Hey Bestech — Have you you considered creating a pocket knife with a blade from thinner stock? Something like that from you folks would be an outstanding as a slicer.

I got this knife in the red/black variation. Out of the box the blade is very sharp. It feels good in the hand, and the bearings are super smooth, and I love the sheepsfoot blade style. I am giving the 3 because after only having the knife for 1.5 months, the pocket clip broke just being attached in my pocket. I have a Bokker that I have carried daily for 4 years that has never failed me. As a kudos to Bestech, once I contacted them, they immediately assured me that they were putting another pocket clip in the mail. If possible I will update my review down the road once the new clip is installed. Edit: Update. After a month, the clip had not shown up. I emailed service and sales asking for an update. Service apologized profusely for the delay due to holiday confusion, and shipped me a brand new knife free of charge! This was well above and beyond!

I got this last time around in the green/black combo. It is a big knife, which I like, and I rotate in my EDC with a couple other knives. Came sharp right out of the box, and with a little diamond honing and stropping, is razor sharp. Lockup is tight, and the action is smooth and satisfying. There are a couple problems with the blade though, and they, so far, are purely cosmetic. Mine had some weird marks on the blade from manufacturing and polishing. They do not appear to be anything other than cosmetic. I emailed Massdrop about this. Their response was to send it back for a full refund, or receive a $15 refund and keep the knife. I choose to keep the knife. I may try to get them out with some polishing compound down the road. So far, great knife, lots of compliments, and a great addition to my EDC. I would have given 5 stars if it were not for the marks on the blade. Well worth the $50 IMO.

Love this knife!
This knife is the cat's ass. I own a lot of knives, including most of the newer budget greats (e.g. Praxis, Maileah, Penguin, P801, various Ganzo originals, etc.). I also own several products ion knives in the $150-$300 price range. But I find myself slipping the Hornet in my pocket day after day. Objectively speaking, this knife isn't a better knife than the others. My Para 3 is a far better design for EDC. Of I want to carry a budget knife, it's hard to beat the Ganzo FH71, Ganzo Adamti Skimen, or the QSP Penguin in D2 and Micarta. BUT... There's something about this Hornet. It's too big, too heavy, and not well-profiled for EDC and not great for piercing. It's definitely got a "just happy to see me," profile. In fact, I commissioned a nylon sheath, solely for the purpose of EDCing this beast. If you work around people who are likely to be intimidated, or especially those who might question your character of you were to whip out an aggressing looking blade, then I highly encourage you to carry this knife and deploy it at every possible opportunity. This massive, aggressive monster deploys with authority and locks up with a significant auditory signal. Few things are more satisfying than watching the involuntary reactions of the more timid among us whenever I pull this pit bull from its sheath, slap it open with authority, cut a wayward thread, drop it shut, and put it away, as if its just another day.

Nice, But...
I EDC mine. Fits great in my giant paws. Not what I would call sharp, out of the box. Cuts but you couldn’t shave with it. Rubbed it on a 600 stone, now I could filet your arm open. The pocket clip is a little a weird design. Doesn’t really fit the knife and the end catches on EVERYTHING. Had to modify it to make it more user friendly.

It’s a heavy chopper. I like a robust knife. The Hornet is well-built, has good flipper action, and is good looking in a macho way. It’s a little heavy for edc, but great when out camping. I opted for the green Hornet. it looks awesome.

Killer wasp!
Great overall value. This isn’t a little yellow jacket - it’s a big, beefy wasp with a solid stinger for a blade! Definitely one of my main go-to’s for any job where I value heft and might over weight or precision. Love the sheepsfoot shape and the substantive width of the blade. Can put a lot of side pressure on the blade and observe no flex in blade or handle. Closed I’m pretty sure the butt could bust some rocks up. The handle is super comfy and grippy - not to mention the very cool color / pattern (green). May need to wear a belt... this thing is heavy enough that it will “shorts” me right out of loose pants! Not particularly sharp out of box (but read other reviewer who got his scalpel sharp!) As another reviewer noted - the clip is so prone to catch things it might work well as an emergency fish hook! ;) Def recommend!
