Bestech Knives 1703 Titanium Frame Lock w/S35VN

Available now exclusively on Massdrop, this serialized first production run marks the debut of the model 1703 titanium frame lock flipper from emerging knife manufacturer Best-tech. With 10 years' experience manufacturing knives, Best-tech is just now gaining recognition for their precision CNC-machined frame lock folders. The 1703's handle features bold colors, intricate design, and a rock-solid feel in the hand. The 3.6-inch blade is crafted from premium CPM-S35VN steel with a drop-point profile that excels at slicing and piercing. To open it, press firmly on the flipper tab and the blade rotates out with authority, locking in place thanks to the titanium frame lock. For more precise tasks, choke up on the knife and put a finger in the choil, which also makes the knife easier to sharpen. An anodized clip with with beveled edges offers right-handed tip-up carry. The 1703 is available in two handsome colorways, shown below. For this first production drop, all knives will have a serial number below 150. 

Developed by Crucible Industries (one of the leading manufacturers of specialty steels for the cutlery industry) and Chris Reeve (arguably the most famous knifemaker in the world), S35VN is perhaps the most balanced blade steel ever created in terms of all-around performance. It’s made through a process of powdered metallurgy known as CPM, which results in near perfect consistency in the distribution of carbides. Compared to conventional melting practices, the CPM process produces a steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, grindability, and toughness.
