I’ve got a pair of DT770’s at work which I don’t really like (I find them fatiguing/harsh at the top end, among other things). how do these compare?

phosfiendTry a Dekoni Blue or the T-X0 with ZMF pads. It's not worth getting if you already have a 770.

phosfiendTry to EQ your DT770s, a couple dB down at 10-12kHz does wonders.

phosfiendThese compare favorably in build quality and quality of life things like detachable cables. With the bass ports you can effectively kill any harshness without eq. However. Since you have DT 770s, just get hybrid pads or maybe sheepskin and the memory foam + added depth will really tone down that treble spike without eq and hopefully add a bit of subbass.

PaperdragonsI have Dekoni sheepskin pads. Definitely don’t help. Perhaps they reduce upper freq response (but that I didn’t notice) - what I did notice was that all transients got snappier. This was a welcome improvement to the flabby bass, but made the treble region snap harder too 🤷‍♂️

phosfiendSorry to hear that! I wasn't super huge on the dt 770. They definitely do some stuff well but I wasn't huge on the mids in particular so I sent them back at 25 days through amazon (80 ohm and a hard decision because they were the best I'd heard at the time). I should have clarified I didn't get to test the dt pads with the 700 ( i have all the dt pads for me dt 1990 for fun) and was going off of a guess based on what I remembered.
