Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

That review seems to suggest the balance is 'accurate' rather than overly bright. Unfortunately I can't say for sure, because I haven't heard the DT880 Pro. I have heard the DT770 Pro (closed back), and those are not as hashy/bright as the Sony MDR-7506. I imagine the DT880 Pro isn't either.

That peak is at 3-6 db too high... and is very audible.
I've seen those FR graphs for a whole lot of headphones, and since none of them are even remotely close to flat response, I'm not sure what to make of them all. I suppose there's a target curve that 'sounds like flat' to a majority of people, and that's what mfgs aim for. Of course short, sharp peaks (and dips) in FR usually make for audible problems. I'll have to try to audition a pair of DT880 to find out what I think of them. Is there a big difference in FR between the Pro and Premium versions? (And why does the Premium cost so much less?)
I have a pair of the Massdrop/Sennheiser HD6XX, which I like, but I'm not sure I'd call them 'accurate.' They are certainly smooth, though, and certainly sound brighter than my Fostex T50RP (older version). Both are far nicer sounding than my 25 year old Sony MDR-7506, for whatever that's worth.
