jrmhngNo you should be able to do so without. It works using a website app.knops.io and some software available from this website. You can try installing it prior to purchasing it.

ShurasikThe cmd that was executed can be found in this folder:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Knops\app-1.0.3\resources\app\assets\drivers\ . This software comes directly from the QMK firmware repo at github and does not contain any spyware. It's solely meant to configure the right usb driver for the device.
