If you don't mind wharncliffe instead of sheepsfoot, there's this alternative in D2:

Almost as heavy and still tip down only but its got caged bearings and deploys very smoothly. Great when you have to break down a lot of cardboard.

bookworm13I have that one branded as an Eafengrow on Amazon. Yes it's big and heavy but it's a great beater work knife IMHO. I wouldn't carry it to the office but I use it out on the farm. Yeah, tip down sucks but I just took the clip off. Its big enough that it's not like it's going to get lost in your pocket. I don't know that it is or isn't D2 but it came sharp and has stayed sharp with minimal maintenance. It goes through cardboard like it isn't there. Well worth the 26 bucks, to me at least.

Tip down only carry is the only excuse I need to not buy this.

ryfishthis. how do you deploy it easily? I have a Kershaw Clash that I can EASILY pull from pocket, open, close and return to pocket with just one hand. Really handy if you only have one hand.

I currently have this knife and the following is just my two cents on it. Extremely heavy which causes me not to carry it very often, ok honestly never. I don't usually care about weight but this knife seems excessively heavy for no reason as they could have skeletonized it some. Poly-plastic (POM) scales which sadly look very cheap and feel cheap in the hand. Deployment is rough. I had to remove the washers in mine and put in bronze washers to smooth out the deployment. I also polished the internals some and now it opens like it is on bearings Only tip down carry, which is a big thumbs down for me. Blade steel is 8cr13mov. I am not going to debate whether it's good or not, that's more of a personal thought. With that said D2 is not much difference in price, we are talking pennies on the dollar, on the manufacturing level that CRKT produces (purchasing level/power of the raw steel), why not just make D2 the standard low end steel? So overall, this will be a knife you buy it, carry it for a day or two because if the novelty of it. Then it will be thrown in a drawer never to see daylight again. Very cool design, just fell super flat on the execution when bring it to mass market. Personally I would pass it on, again just my useless opinion.
