Why arent these selling? The price on this compared to Amazon or anywhere else is absolutely incredible. People also say this is an extremely good DAC, so I don't get why it isnt doing well.
Is there something I don't know? Why isn't this a huge success? I need a DAC but I'm hesitant.

PilotChupTo be fair, the Dacport XL came out in 2011, so most reviews you've read is written back then. It's now 2 years later and many more products came onto the market.
What was an extremely good deal 2 years ago isn't necessarily that great today with all the new cheap dac and dac/amps that came out and is still coming out today at similar price brackets with comparable or greater sound quality and more features.
Still though, the lowest price is good but it seems weird to make a portable dac-only product. If I go portable I want both dac and amp; and for desktop use why not go a full-size rig that doesn't make compromises in pursuit of portability?

DoctorXThank you for that knowledge, I'm a newb trying to get into this world. Wish there was some place to privately message you instead of hijacking a drops discussion. However, I am going to get the T1s on this site and trying to figure out what amp and dac to get. I don't have a terribly large budget after the T1s. Was looking at the schiit bifrost for the DAC, but don't know if theres something comparable for less money. As far as amp goes, still trying to figure that out.

PilotChupI think this is still a great DAC to get. I've seen the LX compared to the HRT Musicstreamer II+ and they were considered to be on the same level. Different but both good. I've heard of people happily using the LX with $2000+ amps and $1000+ headphones. There are some seriously good DACs available around this price range and the LX is one of them. At this price I think it would be a great compliment to the T1s.

PilotChupDon't get me wrong, all that means is at 2013 they're *one of* the great DACs at the $250-ish price point, just not *the* great DAC at the $250 price point back then. So almost half off is amazing for a great piece of gear.
Still, from the way things look getting this at $140 is unlikely at this point.
