FIT should be the focus, not price! These are good boots and MD is offering them at a good price--that's the good part--the bad part is that, as is MD's habit, wide sizes are not offered. That's a particular issue for this boot, because it's intentionally designed to fit/run narrow, compared to other Danner styles. Anyone seriously considering a pair of these would do themselves a favor by first reading the reviews and buying advice offered on both Amazon and Danner's own site, before deciding what size they should actually purchase.
You will notice that prices on Amazon are higher to begin with and can be higher still, depending on size. That may scare a few of you off, but when you realize these boots can be resoled many times over, it's worth getting getting the best fit possible, vs saving a few bucks only to end up with a boot your won't/can't wear as intended!
Good luck, and happy trails ;- )
UPDATE:
Decided to take my own advice; ordered a pair in Black (WIDES) from Amazon this AM. Paid more (but not much more) for the better selection of sizes and the ease of returns incase things don't work out as expected (peace of mind factor).
I'll let you know how things turn out...
UP-UPDATE:
Worse than I anticipate! Arrived from Amazon and quickly tried one boot on--even in the WIDE size I ordered, these boots are so narrow as to be nearly impossible to wear. Placing them side by side with the Irish Setters (in wide) that I've been wearing, the Danners are significantly more narrow.
Pity--otherwise, nice boots I certainly wanted to like. By the way, out of the box, the Danners have zero sole flex. Obviously that's something you'll have to achieve over time. Unless I can work up the courage to try them on one more time, these are going right back to you know where :- (
Fancypants1000Hi there, fancypants! The sizes at checkout are in US Mens. To get the Womens size, you'd size up 1.5 sizes (i.e. US Mens 9.5 is a US Womens 11). Let me know if you have any other sizing questions.
TomasVActually, Danner said 54" for 14 eyelet (7per side) boots. I was afraid that might be too short, so I ordered a couple of each. I'll let you know which worked out best!
RayFI have thought about it but decided not to - since my first pair was DX’d and thrown away, I want to keep them as they are...memories
For those who are considering these boots, those are the second set of the original laces that came with the boots.
Yeah, they’re that good - these boots are quality work horses.
