Product Description
Headphone amplifiers come in a variety of circuit designs, each with its own advantages and drawbacks, but there’s one main determining faction: distortion level. Credited with having the lowest possible distortion, Output Transformer-Less (OTL) headphone amps cut out a key part of conventional amplifier design to eliminate a major cause of audible distortion Read More
What is the output impedance (not the headphone impedance range, which is what seems to be erroneously listed as the impedance of the amp itself in the specs)
I'm using a Topping DX3 Pro and it sound great. The DX3 is neutral bordering on bright, and the DV balances it with just the right amount of warmth and that tubey sound. Plus the DX3 has a RCA out so you can connect it directly to the DV.
Can this amp be used as a daily driver and left on for 16 hours a day? Or is it really just designed for a specific listening session? Sorry I'm new to tube amps... I know you'll burn up tubes quicker this way but are there any other problems to be concerned with?
I’d imagine it might over heat at 16 hours as this amp gets pretty damn hot after 1 hour of use. I have gone as long as 5 hours with no adverse effects. If you plan to burn in a driver tube, I’d suggest removing the power tube so the unit can stay cool.
Is there a consensus on whether or not the newly released Xduoo TA-26 has any benefits over the DarkVoice336 SE? It seemingly has a lot in common, both amps implement the same tube size/configuration (6N8P, 6N5P), both are OTL, both have RCA inputs and outputs on the back along with AC power supplies. Specs are approximately the same. Do you think the TA-26 improved upon the internal design and/or corrected a couple of issues that seemed to commonly impact the DarkVoice, ie. noise, interference, etc.?
