I listen to vinyl records 99% of the time, The Darkvioce amp is in use for the majority of those listening sessions. Recently I connected the Darkvoice to my computer and listened to content from YouTube. Just wondering if I listened to the content using a DAC between the computer and the Darkvoice, would the sound be significantly improved.

HillbillyDepending on what DAC you used, there would be "some" audible difference, but if you're not paying attention, you might not hear it.

HillbillyHi there, my system is computer based the dac i use is the Roksan K3, with the darkvoice. This is absolutely stunning, a massive improvement over the Schitt magni 3. What i love about the tube amp is the ability to change the sound signature to suit your tastes or the genre of music you are listening to. My favourite combinations are. The tung sol 7236 and sylviana gta chrome top, this combination in my set up is very linear, much more so than the magni 3. i use this when i want to listen to say the likes of katie melua who has a voice like glass so transparent and clear, its also a brilliant combination for orchestral music, other front tubes that pair well with the 7236 are the shuguan black treasure and the sylviana vt-231. I also was brought up on vinyl and have in the past had some fairly nice systems based around such turntables as the Linn Sondeck then later the Roksan Xerses, which i prefered over the sondeck and sugden amps. When i want that beautiful warm smoothness that i was used to on vinyl my choice of tubes is the Mullard 6080 and the Russian 6h8c from the late 5o's or early 60,s produced in the Foton plant. I know a lot of americans are not always keen on the Russian tube but these pair remarkably well with the 6080 family but with especially with the mullard which is my favourite from the ones i own. https://hifipig.com/roksan-k3-digital-to-analogue-converter/ This is one of the reviews of the k3 , This is the link to where i bought mine,https://www.audiovisualonline.co.uk/media/roksan/k3/dac/roksan_k3_dac_small_1-large.jpg , The reason for the big price drop, that not long after the launch of the dac Roksan was taken over by i think monitor audio, who decided a full size dac didn't sit well in the lineup that also inluded a cd player with built in dac, so it was dropped and audio visual purchase all remaing stock , which i am personally grateful for, because you would be hard pushed to buy a better dac at that price.
