Anyone looking to buy this, I would suggest the CM Quickfire or CM Quickfire TK over this keyboard. Having owned all, my favorite would be the Quickfire TK with MX blues which are also perfect for gaming. The compactness of the TK is also a lot better then a full keyboard, but has the functionality of the NUM pad. For $99 for the das, I would suggest grabbing the TK over the das.
I bought this keyboard at full price 3 and a half years ago on Das Keyboard's website and I have to say I absolutely love it. I use it only at work and typing is easy.
FYI people can be turned off by the blue lights for the lock keys. In an office environment they work perfectly and I don't need to squint to see the lights.
And my Fn key is blue along with the top icons on the F keys. Not sure if the keys will be different as seen in the photo. What matters to me is that after heavy use the keyboard is going strong and I enjoy using it daily.
Are the pictures in the description page the correct? The keyboard layout is different from Das website: http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-professional/
Naming the in the Massdrop pictures there's an Fn key on the left side, while in the Das website there's no Fn key on the left side. Could someone from Massdrop explain why the layout is different form the Das website?
The Das Professional S changed OEM manufacturer at some point. The old OEM was Costar and at that time they have the "standard" 1.25, 1.25, 1.25, and 6.25 space. The Das Ultimate and Mac line up still uses Costar last I checked.
The new OEM which I forgot which company it is, does the new "non-standard" 1.25, 1, 1, 1.25, and 6 space (the one you own now). So my advise is to only buy the Ultimate, Mac, 4 and 4C models (standard layout).
HydeThanks for the info and backstory. Love the keyboard, but finding keycaps sucks.
That said, I really kinda like the layout for daily use. Even if it is a little funky.
Just speaking as someone who owns this keyboard with Blues, I think this is a really good price for it -- honestly I wish it had been this price when I bought it because I don't think it's necessarily worth the MSRP.
