I found one of these being advertised as a second hand sale. The description said that it had only been used for five minutes.
Having wanted to try a Das Keyboard for some time, I visited the seller. He had one of the first ones because he had contributed to the kickstarter. I wondered why he was so enthusiastic about getting it, then decided to sell it after five minutes.
I read a few first impressions by early reviewers on the Web. They said it was a terrible keyboard, and they were right. The build quality was sloppy, with rattly folding legs instead of the traditional silent ruler. The switches made a loud spring noise. In general, it was not what I had expected in a Das Keyboard.
This is a terrible setback for a company with a good past. Das Keyboard should scrap this abomination and do the thing that was obvious from the start: Make a Das Keyboard 4 Professional with RGB Cherry-compatible switches.
