They sound great, well above what any <$40 headphones can sound.
Though they're all plastic, they don't feel extra flimsy. The grip is perfect, and the padding is soft and breathable. My ears are larger, so the asymmetric cans barely fit my ears but aren't uncomfortable. I love the side volume control, which does feel a tiny bit less-than sturdy but not so much that it feels cheap and fragile. They're very lightweight too, so they almost feel like nothing. Except for the perfectly sturdy but still comfortable grip, you could easily forget you're wearing them.
The sound is great; nothing seems unbalanced at all. It's more closed sounding than the HIFIMAN HE-R7DX's massive cans, but I can't complain at all.
Pros: Very minimalistic and straight forward to use. Subjective sound to my ears was very V shaped and borderline too much bass for my liking for FPS games. But also very much left me wanting to use them more frequently. Highs on Apex Legends sometimes got too spicy for my ears. GREAT for story games or immersive games. Played Alien Isolation in these and it was like a dream come true.
Cons: Only comes with one set of pads. And the pad diameter is rather tiny. I have medium size ears and they were almost cramped inside earpad.
overall would recommend 8/10

Solid Headset for the Price
I bought this back in February 2024 when the price was $49.
I needed a new headset since my old one, the Logitech G230 mic completely snapped, and the headset was already 5+ years old, so it was time for an upgrade.
Compared to my old G230, the build quality of the H3X is GALAXIES better. Nice and sturdy. The earcups are also nice and firm but soft which is a good thing. I appreciate that the looks too are more modest and subdued, not locking too hard into the gamer aesthetic which is nice for more professional settings.
The mic is EXCELLENT sounding for the price compared to the G230 and reviews will show it is the case as well, you won't find yourself needing an external mic for the typical voice chats or video calls.
I am not an audiophile so music and regular social media content sound great to me. Gaming too is great.
The only downside (for me) is that the headset is a bit small for my head (it's not that big trust) but I have to set each side length to the max (10) for a comfortable fit.
Overall, solid.
Get it on discount and you are set up for gaming. They are closed back so when speaking in teams you will not hear yourself, that can be strange...nice built quality.

Great budget headset
I'm no audiophile, but these are plenty good for the price and much better than the mainstream companies like Logitech, Corsair, or HyperX. Sound quality is clear and the cups are comfortable for my large ears. Can't expect all too much from something that costs less than a set of plastic keycaps. Only real downside for me is the attached mic that cannot be removed. I don't care to talk during gaming, so having it stuck to the side only adds overall weight on my head.
I've never had a gaming headset but these have been great for my first purchase. I've worn them for a few hours at a time with no major annoyances. For the sale price of $49 it was a pretty easy decision and I'm pleased with it.
- nice sound quality, though I've never tried any higher end headsets to compare them to
- build quality really good, plastic but they are very premium
- could be more comfortable but can wear them 2 hrs before it becomes a big deal, more than enough for me
- nice snug fit and the sound isolation is better than some noise cancelling headphones I've tried. For me I like to have complete immersion in a game and these are absolutely great for that.
