Since its introduction last year, the PC38X has been one of the community’s favorite gaming headsets. Whether it’s that 15th zoom meeting of the day or the 2am grind to platinum, the clear and punchy sound signature makes them a pleasure for both work and play. And while they’re comfortable enough to let you get it all done on those long days, not everyone was in love with the distinctive black and yellow colorway. To those who let us know they wanted something just a little more sleek and professional looking, your requests have been heard.  We have worked with EPOS (the artist formerly known as Sennheiser gaming) to create an all black version of the PC38X. No other tinkering required, so you can expect the same great audio and comfort as before, but with a stealthy new look and the new EPOS branding.  Happy holidays everyone!

Overall, these headphones are not a good value at $140. Yes, the sound is fantastic, however the head pads have already started to come apart; they appear to have been crudely bonded. Additionally, these headphones are uncomfortable; they begin to hurt after wearing them for more than four hours. Better headphones are EASILY available for the same price.

Very comfortable. Build quality is fine and for the price it is as expected. Sounds fantastic and better than most 'gaming' headsets. Only two wishes would be a wireless version--but that would have it's own drawbacks due to design changes--and a detachable mic. (mod edit: removed affiliate links)

I bought the PC38X a couple of days ago, and it arrived today. The packaging wasn't beat up, nothing was damaged, blah blah. There's those 2 cables, the splitter and the one with just 2 ends. I'm using the one with just 2 ends for my laptop. When I plug it in, audio only comes from one ear, and any level of talking sounds distant and echoey, like you're in a auditorium. Any audio that is not talking, sounds flat, dull, and is just generally not high quality. This is not my desired experience. Is it a problem with the headphones? A problem with my device? I plugged them into my 7th gen iPad, and they had the same problem. I'm using a dell G15 5511 Gaming laptop, and I plugged in another 3.5 mm headphone that I had, and it doesn't have that problem. Do I need to buy a sound card? Should I ask for a different pair? I need some help here, because these were very expensive headphones, and I've heard very good things about them. I'd hate to have to return them. Show less

I just got mine and i was testing the audio and everything else, i usually use this webpage to do that https://www.audiocheck.net/soundtests_headphones.php and i found that on high and low bass my headset rattle/crackle or vibrates so much that makes a horrible noise, this happens only on bass and some highs, i do not think this is normal, the volume is great, this sounds clear and have a great sound on them, thats the only issue i found on the drivers so far, and i would like to know it this is cause a bad driver or maybe there is something wrong with the build quality, do you guys have problems using this headset and the bass on full volume?

Has anyone compared these to the hyperX cloud II? It's what I'm currently using and want to know if this is a good upgrade

CheeseCurdI did, i still own a HyperX Cloud II with the usb 7.1 adapter, there is big difference in audio quality in both headphones and mic, the mic is crisp and clear, the cloud 2 mic sounds a bit mushy and has some artifacts from time to time, the headphone sound is great for gaming and competitive gaming but in my opinion the PC38X is better in that area, also the cloud 2 is "closed back" so there is a main difference there, if you get a great discount on the cloud 2 (i got mine at $45, 5 years ago and they still work) go with these, if you get the PC38X under 100 go with this, today there is a promo on the pc37X you could try those, there is no huge difference between the PC3XX family from drop.

Audio is great, mic is good, build quality isn't bad, materials are nice. However recieved faster , the headband glue starts to peel off after a couple weeks of use. (mod edit: removed affiliate links)

After 1 week of gameplay and listening to music I can easily say this is the best headset for gaming. If you listen to music at low volumes you hear things you’ve never heard. The mic is also great especially when in game threshold is used along with microphone volume adjustments per game. Dolby Atmos > Gameplay > Balanced is the sweet spot for me. previous headphones / headsets Turtle Beach 700 Gen 2 Wireless HyperX Cloud II Wired current setup PC Xbox Elite Series 2 USB C Controller PC38X Plugged Direct Into Controller

Would love it in the future if there's a model with a detachable mic, and also wireless compatibility.

bobalover@Drop is it just that you can’t figure out a wireless battery version of these headphones or the sonics just won’t work? I honestly can’t understand why you can’t make a wireless version of these
SexPandaByOdeonIt is much easier to make a wireless headphone wired, then it is to make a wired headphone wireless. Carving out the space needed to fit the battery and electronics would impact the headphones performance and major tooling changes would be needed to make the mic removable. We do have plans to make what you are asking for next year, it will just take some time and effort to see them through.

This headset has fantastic comfort and audio quality, but there are 2 things that really hold it back for me. First, the cord material transfers a lot of sound from rubbing on your clothes. When moving your head, the cord sound is incredibly annoying and very noticeable even at fairly high volume. Second, my unit has the absolute worst mic I've ever heard on a headset (no exaggeration). It's extremely quiet, and what does come through sounds like muffled garbage. I tried re-seating the cable many times, but this issue persists across multiple devices. I'm going to assume my unit is defective (based on YouTube reviews I've seen), but you can find a lot of other comments about mic issues in the original PC38X (yellow colorway) discussion section. I'm not sure if the QA is bad on these, but this doesn't seem to be particularly uncommon.

hilltop804Totally agree. I've had PC350s, HD598s which had smooth cords and didn't have this issue. It brings them down from a 5 star to a 3 for me. They need to change this...
