All I can say that this switch (Halo True) are uniquely good, the switch has a really good "clack" sound, it is smooth too out of the box, the springs are heavy but not heavy enough to stop a heavy typer like me from bottoming out (BOTTOMING OUT FEELS GREAT, SOUNDS GREAT) also I noticed that you feel most if the tactility on the upstroke since the tactility starts at the top of the switch so there is no travel, basically the top of the bump is at when you start to press the switch, so you don't feel it as much as when you slowly let go of the switch, it's a weird but good feeling that's hard to describe, you have to feel it yourself and say "oh, that's different" because that's what my reaction is when I got my hands on these Halos. Edit: I made some Holy Panda from these switches, hands down THE BEST tactile switches I have ever laid my hands on! I would suggest getting these or the Halo Clears and hunt for some Panda in the secondary market, might cost you a bit tho.
Decent tactiles, but that's not what these were used for.
Perhaps you are familiar with the Holy Panda switch. If not, it is a so-called "frankenswitch" which features the housing from a YOK Panda switch and the stem from a Halo Clear or Halo True switch, yielding some of the best tactile switches in the world. Halo switches are decent in their own selves, though. They're ok tactiles for daily use. They're not the quietest or the greatest in terms of tactility, but they're not bad at all. However, if you want to go that extra mile, get a pack of Panda switches and get to frankenswitching.

Will these work with CTRL, ALT, or SHIFT keyboards?
What's the difference been True and Clear?
I got both, I found the clears have a higher initial resistance which made the actuation point more obvious, but they bottom out much easier, the trues had less tactility and less initial force, but the bottom out resistance was noticeably stronger. They are quite similar yes, but not identical, and the color of the stem has nothing to do with the led transmission, thats only the housing which is the same for both. Also, lube them, they get much quieter and the actuation becomes much more clear to the hand.

"Massdrop" Halo switches? You mean Input Club, right?

Oh hey you're right, it's not a good analogy! But not for the reason *you* think. I thought Massdrop had more of a role in the manufacture process than they actually do. Shapeways prints designs personally, Massdrop just paid someone else to make the switches. Made by Kaihua, designed by Input Club, ehr... Paid for by Massdrop? They're Kaihua made, if anything, not "Massdrop made", it "runs on Kailh's own equipment", not Massdrop's.
"They're just keyboard switches." I take it you've never visited Geekhack, /r/MechanicalKeyboards or Mechkeys. Those people take this stuff seriously, a little too much so at times.

Hey everyone,
The Halo switches are finally here and available for purchase. I'm very excited about these switches and I'm sure many in the community have been waiting for these to become available.
For the newcomers - heavy tactile switches have always been the most popular choices among Massdrop members. From the days of Poker 2 with MX Clear switches to Zeal's instantly recognizable purple Zealios. Great feeling tactile switches are the holy grail for many of us.
We choose Kaihua as the manufacturer for these switches because they are the largest switch supplier in the world, these guys make A LOT of switches. Their attention to detail and quality is commendable and I've been very impressed every time I had the opportunity to visit Kaihua.
These switches do have built-in LED lens that help diffuse surface mount LED lights. This means the switches will NOT be compatible with through-hole LEDs. In addition, if the surface mount LEDs on your PCB is not reverse mounted, the bump the LED creates can cause collision with the switch lens, please double check! Finally, these switches will also be plate mount, so make sure you have a stabilizing plate on your keyboard.
Super excited to get this underway and I hope everyone feels the same!
P.S. Question: "What keyboard is that in the banner?" Answer: "Soon..."

YanboWuSo apparently Kailh can make pcb mount housing for non box switches. Any chance these will be pcb mount?

1upkeyboards is working on R2 with the manufacturer. Hard to imagine semi affordable holy pandas. Still a ways off on R2 pandas from what I've read though.

More people would know the name "Input Club" than "Jacob Alexander", it's clear they just want to distance themselves from IC. Did no one else at IC have ANY involvement in helping develop the switch? Really? Labelling them "MASSDROP MADE" is just insult to injury.

Restock please. Massdrop HPs might be your cash cow but some of us need halo stems for other switches.

Perfect. Massdrop has waited so long in getting me my replacement CTRL that the resale value on the Halo Trues I have no interest in is basically obliterated now.

Joe405Flipping is for degenerate subhumans and has no place in a civilized society. I was not attempting to flip Halo Trues. Simply trying to recoup losses on buying the Halo True CTRL since the barebones version was gone by the time I found the drop. I only have to sell them enough to make up for the drop difference ($50). $25/$25 or $15/35 could hardly be considered anywhere near creature-tier scalper behavior.
