eapdangThat's... err, not how it works. They should've set a MOQ and ditched the kit if it didn't make it. Matter of fact, they should have made the red mods separate like the Hobbyist kit and sold the fulk brown as the base kit. I'm not surprised, though. It's classic Drop fashion to make poor decisions.

eapdangMatt3o has made it clear he prefers all brown, and it was his intent when creating the set. Why is Drop overruling its own designers? Does it not have faith in them?

Apparently they are looking at old GB numbers from a time when the hobby was in a very different state, and was a great deal smaller. I'm not even sure if this is accurate but giving the benefit of the doubt, it sounds like the maroon mods won-out numbers wise in the old SA run, so they took that to mean that's what they should go with now from a sales perspective. On a base level it makes sense but I also think it equates to mis-reading the room a bit. Do we want a retro set? Absolutely! Do we want maroon and green? Maybe! IC's aren't a terrible idea; I get there are different pipelines for different products and scheduling production is harder than ever, so I get not being able to change gears quickly at all - but yes I do think this set needs to go to brown town, and if that means optional kits later, well, that beats nothing.
The thing I don't like about that is that the alphas and mods will have been produced at a different time - and I know from experience that different batches of the same MT3 sets may or may not match in color, likely depending on the set. There's a nonzero chance the mods made later will not match the caps made now, and I would indeed much prefer to buy the monochrome brown set as a set, with the option of adding maroon and green as accents - kind of like how Dusk and Skiidata are set up.
