Even for those of us who haven’t dedicated our lives to marine research, the ocean is an intriguing fixation. The deep, bottomless blues, the push and pull of the waves, the abundance of life (especially those damn jaguar sharks!): It can drive a man crazy if he’s not careful. Inspired by the ocean and the legendary explorers who help reveal it, GMK Belafonte was originally conceived by Onishima, and has now been brought to life by MiTo. This quirky keycap set takes place aboard an aging research vessel manned by a crew of misfits and surrounded by not-so-intelligent dolphins. Featuring aqua alphas, cyan modifiers, and mustard, crimson, and white accents, it’s the perfect set for aquatic adventure.
Made with ABS plastic with a semi-matte finish, the keycaps are doubleshot injected, which means the legends won’t fade over time. They’re also sculpted in German-designed Cherry profile, known for its comfortable feel for programmers, writers, and more. As far as compatibility, the keycaps will fit on Cherry MX stems and related clones.
Inspired by a certain washed-up oceanographer and his unmistakable blue uniform, this kit offers enough coverage for 40% (like the Planck), 60%, HHKB style, 65%, 75%, Alice, Tenkeyless, 100% and 1800 layout keyboards.
This kit features extra mustard 6.25u, 7u, and split spacebars, all of which are convex.
Here you’ll find various custom, handmade novelty designs with references from the nautical world. There’s a tribute to oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and the research of marine life, including the scuba mask, his vessel Calypso, and a modern logo based on his name. There are also mustard, crimson, aqua, and cyan keycaps with other fun references to life at sea.
MiTo is one of the most well-known designers in the world of mechanical keyboards. With more than 10 custom sets under his belt, his work has garnered worldwide attention. Born and raised in Brazil, MiTo has been surrounded by a thriving culture of art and expression from a young age. This cultural immersion only helped spark MiTo’s ideas, which manifest themselves in the form of clever keycap sets. Since he burst onto the scene with the electric Pulse keycaps, MiTo took the world by storm with sets like the highly compatible Canvas and cyberpunk-themed Laser. Today, he continues to innovate with new colorways and themes, artisans, desktop accessories, and engaging content to help bring his work to life.
