Did anybody tried to pad swap and how did you deal in case the different pad didn't had the ear cut out to place the damping felts in?

LainesBKKI'm not quite sure as to what it is you're asking...…. First, they come with removeable default filters already installed. You can either remove them & put another filter or combination of filters in their place. You could even just leave them in & put another filter on top of them. They insert directly into the earpad opening. The earpads are glued in & not meant to be detached unless you're replacing them. There are quite a few videos on how to swap filters.

MaverickAHSorry for not being more precise. When changing the pads for example which ones which dosent have the exact same rectangle cut out for the ears, how is it possible to make the filters work as their are supposed to fit with the stock pads.

LainesBKK???? All of my filter pads have the same dimensions. Are you saying that yours do not? My filter pads are about 69mm (2.75") by 46mm (1.8125") & fit in the earcups just fine. Just push them in & smooth them out with your fingers. If you are talking about improperly cut filters, you can either adjust them yourself if they are cut too large or contact Dan Clark Audio directly. I don't think that they would have any problem sending you a new set of properly fitting filters.

MaverickAHMy filters are perfectly fine. Im trying to say that the filters fit perfectly in the ear cut out on the stock pads. When changing the pads to after market ones like the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin for Bayerdynamic, they will not have the cutout like the original pads. So how Im supposed to use filter with round aftermarket pads?

LainesBKKGo to the Dekoni website & click on "Find Your Pads". Now pull down the Brands menu. You won't find MrSpeakers or Dan Clark Audio because Dekoni doesn't make pads for them specifically. Basically what you're trying to do is takes a 3rd party brand not made for your headphones & trying to use them. It's not going to work! At least not optimally...... Honestly, I don't see the need to earpad swap on the Ether CX. It's designed as a system. The earpads & filters are part of that system & then when you add in the fact that the earpads are glued on & once you remove them they're done, that makes rolling with a different brand a difficult proposition. The only pad swap that even makes sense is if you wanted some DCA angled pads or if your pads actually need replacing.

LainesBKKIf you pull the stock pad all the way off you will see the driver plate that's covered in that white tuning fabric stuff. the tolerances of the ribbing on either side should be tight enough that settling one tuning pad there should work fine and not move. I'm still using the stock pads as I didn't like the sound of any other pads I have. But I figured this out as a means to try to see if there was a way to NOT feel the tuning inserts against my ears, works great. So if yer still wanting to pad roll, that's what you can do. Although I dunno if more than one filter will stay to be honest.

LainesBKKThe ZMF pads fit better than the DT dekonis. The filters kinda kill detail. The suede ZMF universal does similar things to the bas without cutting highs. Definitely a comfort and soundstage upgrade for me.
