Hello, is the Thx 789 better than Schiit Magni 3 or Jds labs atom? Run the thx 789 good with the Fostex Th x00 Mahagoni? When i read in Forums about the Thx 789 is a little bit trouble shooting, same they is not good jds are better, same says thx for life ect... What now? My Setup is a Matrix Audio ipro 2 as Dac,a Schiit loki,Fostex th x00 Mahagoni, actually a Schiit magni 3 as amp.Using the unbalced output. Later i would connected on balance output when i have enough money to change the Cabel on the Fostex Headphone.

KulpaWell audio is always subjective. If you want the basic rundown, the 789 is what many consider the most sterile or serious amp you can get in this price range. If your audio is flawed, you definitely will notice. The big seller to many though is it's overkill output power. There is no way you will ever max the amp out as it has a 6 watt output on XLR making it incredibly overkill. But many just rave about it's incredible detail retrieval and separation. Some people have even claimed to hold it above their $1000 amps in that regard. If you want a better explanation of it, I suggest watching Joshua Valour's video on the 789 on YouTube. He does a better job describing it in detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV8hgxQrJiw

KulpaThe JDS Atom would be fine for you, and provides plenty of power for your headphones. The 789 may be more versatile, and provide more power through the balanced output, but the Atom not only sounds great subjectively but tests just as well as the 789 objectively. In your situation, I’d say the only reason to get the 789 would be if you want even more power, which again, means using the XLR output. If you’re using a SE cable/output, the Atom provides more than enough juice.

TheCountThe atom also provides more power than the 789 through the single ended output. So another reason to get the atom unless you intend on using balanced.

MyTechTripThe atom puts out 1 watt at 32 ohms, how is that more than 1.8 watts?

ELACasterhttps://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/confusion-regarding-jds-labs-atom-power-vs-thx-aaa-789-power.7796/ Scroll to post 8 if you want to see amir, but post 1 says a lot too. Again, comparing only the single end and not the thx balanced out. Hence why I think it doesn't hurt to have both, and having an atom to start is a great idea. And a thx 789 is no slouch of course, has more features, and we all want one... I just know I don't need it.

MyTechTripI was talking about SE, the Atom has less power for lower impedance headphones. I do agree that the atom makes more sense for the average user.
