SigitasTHX 789 have more power only in balanced mode. But in Single ended THX ONE has more power.

Hakuna_my_tatasYes it does ! THX 89 have more power in SE at only 16 ohms. THX ONE have more power all the way up. At 32 ohms THX ONE have 2.7w and THX 89 have 1.8w.

Rocket58Counterpoint, my hifiman edition xs would benefit from more power at 16 ohms. They are both certainly powerful amps, so to each their own.

Can it be used as a preamp and take as input a phono signal? The output of the THX AAA One will then feed into a power amp. Will this configuration work?

If "phono signal" means the output of a phono preamp, this will work.
The raw output of a turntable without a built-in phono preamp will not work. It must be amplified and equalized by a phono preamp before taken as the input to THX AAA One.

They are variable and intended for use with active speakers or a power amplifier.

Does the pre button on the front toggle between headphone and pre output? Can I leave headphones and powered monitors attached and use this to switch between them?
