What is SpaceFN and why you should give it a try
The SpaceFN concept - setting up your space key as a layer switch when held - is probably one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby. Let me explain how it works. My SpaceFN article on kbd.news made some rounds recently - quite surprisingly given the age of this concept. This piece you're reading is a condensed version of the full post. If you're left with unanswered questions, you'll most likely find the info you're looking for in the original write-up. On my imaginary top list of the most useful keyboard features, tweaks and hacks, SpaceFN would deserve a podium finish for sure. But what makes it so special? In short: SpaceFN is easy to implement, easy to learn, costs nothing, can be used with any keyboard, and can improve your productivity instantly. I will list its benefits below, but can state right at this point that the SpaceFN concept, setting up your space key as a layer switch when held, is clearly one of the most useful tweaks in the keyboard hobby....

I havnt seen information like this i the deskthority wiki, we might have a look at the deskthority forum or geekhack, if i do I'll let you know if I come across anything.
Contributing such information could give fellow people, and yourself, alot more options both when shopping, and in after purchase customization, and switch replacement.. :-) If you do the leg work and let us know and maybe propagate the information on the OTM series switch Gateron compatibility, and any information you've found.
If you got an apls version, or even the cherry stem. I bet there is a high likelyhood it could work, if not with say kailh or gateron switches, but, it might work with other gaote switches, if they share housing compatibility.. Other goat switches are mx compatible, i think, like the pg150 series switches, so, if they are, one might be able to take the top housing from a 150 series switch, and attach it to the bottom housing the the otm series switch.. which then might have compatibility, with gateron and maybe cherry and razer as well, if it doesn't already have it so, at least down to the pins?
if they are coming from the same factory and manufacturer. It would cost money to alter a design so much i would think.. I suspect they would be compatible housing, bt really it' a gamble when we don't know.
there isnt much information in the deskthority wiki about the Outemu switch OTM series switches, https://deskthority.net/wiki/Gaote_PG150_series no measurement of pin distance centre to centre or anything..
At least if they are incompatible, entirely, it could be made known. and even material for someone to make an analysis or something some with other switch someone else might have.
If i have some time later i'll have a look around geekhack and report back here if i find out anything.
I think the specific switches here, are a variation of the Gaote Outemu "OTM Series" switches. I'll keep my eyes open, but if you do like to do some investigative work, lets us know here will ya?
Alright, have a nice day Oxides
