Hi everyone,
Here's some notes to clarify the situation with the Fiio E17 drop.
1) Our original supplier of Fiio products couldn't fulfill the order and gave us extremely late notice (after the buy ended), which left us scrambling to find another supplier. This was the primary reason for the fulfilment delay.
2) Within a few days, we managed to find another authorized Fiio supplier, and they sent the units to us in batches which came from different warehouses at different times.
3) We received them and shipped them out as quickly as possible. There was a mixup about the 50 versus 75 units coming in due to incoming tracking numbers getting mixed up. We try to communicate to everyone as effectively as possible but there's a lot of steps involved which are partially out of our control, and mistakes happen. It's a delicate balance being as transparent as possible, and not relaying incorrect information. We're working on this, and we have big plans in the future to streamline our supply chain to minimize these problems in the future. It's definitely not our intention to be misleading or uninformative, it's just a work in progress.
4) UPS is experiencing a lot of problems with their shipping and tracking. This affects this drop, as well as many others. We've sent numerous emails to our reps and they're working on trying to sort out the problems but they're so big that I doubt they're actually working on our problems specifically. We've seen some packages delivered without any tracking updates whatsoever. Here's an independent report about the issue: http://www.tennessean.com/article/20131227/NEWS01/312270050/Some-still-awaiting-Christmas-packages
5) Most importantly, we've heard reports of units arriving that are missing their serial number (with their authenticity stickers, etc. intact). We've asked our supplier about this, and received an honest, but unfortunate answer. "We're not authorized to sell this product through Massdrop, so we've cut the serial numbers off. These are still authentic product, and we'll happily accept any product returns or warranty requirements needed."
This was done without our knowledge, and we're not happy about it. The products are absolutely authentic, and Massdrop and our supplier will cover all warranty needs. Further, if you are unhappy with the product that you have received, we will gladly pay for return shipping and give you a refund, no questions asked.
6) We will not be issuing any credits. The V-Moda situation was significantly different, where the authenticity stickers were missing from the product which called into question their absolute legitimacy. We're absolutely sure that these are genuine Fiio product, and you can use your scratch-off grey code on Fiio's product page to confirm that.
