krisstIt's not necessarily bad, DHL eCommerce is just super super slow when compared to other shipping services. It is one of the worst I've ever dealt with and yet DHL overnight is one of the best. It just all depends on which type of DHL service you're using.
The only thing I have noticed is that a number of people of the main Carbon drop that were overseas still haven't received their package but I'm not sure if that is due to DHL or another shipper.
krisst I have all of my MD drops shipped via DHL to Singapore and then Singpost did the rest. Deliveries have always been on-time, tracking is updated frequently and I have nothing to complain about DHL at all :D
eapdangAre you having it shipped via DHL eCommerce or one of their faster options? Every single time I have gotten a package via DHL eCommerce it takes 2-3 days to show up in their system, then it will take at least 2 days to leave their origin center, then once it is finally out of the origin center it will take at the fastest 7 days to reach my local USPS (the longest was 17 days and the usual time it would take was 10 days), and once it reaches USPS it is at my house that day or the next depending on when they received it from DHL. Throughout the entire process the DHL tracked would either just not update for days and then suddenly update with 3 steps from previous days or in one case it didn't update at all until 2 days after the package had been delivered.
Now DHL overnight on the other hand is outstanding and easily the best overnight service I have ever used. The only times I have had issues was one package being a day late during Christmas, which is entirely understandable, and once my package was 6 days late because on the day I received the text it was being delivered we got a quick snowstorm that lasted 20 minutes and suddenly my package just got lost in limbo until a driver showed up unannounced on a Saturday 6 days later and apologized profusely saying that the envelope had fallen behind the spare tire they have in the back; my only issue with the last one was DHL's customer service ignoring my email I sent, attempting to find out where my $200 package was , after the package was 2 days late and the email was ignore until 30 minutes after the package was delivered and then I received an email saying they didn't see what the issue was because it had just been delivered.
Other than those 2 problems I have had about 15-20 more packages delivered via DHL's overnight service and they all were delivered perfectly on time, DHL eCommerce on the other hand is a joke in the US (I live in Alabama, it isn't like I am in Alaska or Hawaii) and I am extremely happy that Massdrop used Fedex for my package this time!
You can say that DHL eCommerce isn't that bad but anytime I have been involved in a drop in which that service was used it has been a complete shitshow and there are always a decent amount of people who either receive their packages extremely late (20 to 30 days later) or just never received them at all thanks to DHL conveniently losing them or the package never making it to their countries shipping service despite DHL claiming to have dropped it off. Just go look at the Carbon Base set buys comments and you will see a couple of people on there complaining about never getting their base set or getting it after a ridiculous amount of time and I have seen many more on other sites complaining about the same things I have laid out as well. If I had only had a few bad experiences with DHL's eCommerce shipping I wouldn't be so critical or complain so much about it but out of the 10-12 packages I have had shipped with eCommerce shipping it has been an absolute disaster and takes much longer than any other US shipper I have ever used.
shangrila500your reply is too damn long. anyhow, in transaction page it says DHL Global Mail, tracking links to DHL eCommerce Tracking and my items are handled by Singpost once they enter Singapore.
I lived in the US for a year and I swear to never trust UPS, they screwed so many of my shipping in that year. On the other hand, DHL has always been reliable for me, including my 5 years in the UK. That's all folks :)
