Forgive the stupid question. But how do I turn it on?

ok. Turned out it was a power supply issue. A usb-c power supply with usb-c to usb-c didn’t work. An old usb-a supply was fine.
Too bad it uses a microphone instead of being controlled by software on the PC. I use headphones for 95% of my computer audio listening, so it would just flicker every once in a while -- like when I accidentally bump my knee against the desk. If it could have been mapped to an audio channel or an audio output, then I'd have been interested.
TipsyMacScotchslurpenThe other RGB LED rhythm light here (the FFT one) had a spec item of "240 MHz processor" that screamed "This uses an ESP32".
Would not be surprised if both that item and this (I'm shocked at how similar the designs are...) were running WLED (WLED is MIT-licensed so closed-source uses are permitted), but while the license permits doing this, it's kinda not exactly the nicest thing to do. If they simply said "Runs WLED, supports all WLED capabilities" it would be a LOT more desirable. WLED supports remote control over wifi, and LEDFx + WLED would give exactly what you're asking for and more.
(I think that while the price is a bit steep, it is appropriate for a walnut base/quartz tubes/etc, however officially supporting WLED would make this FAR more desirable than it currently is.)
