What is a SUPER nice headphone to pair with this amp. Currently the Focal Elex is my best set. Listening right now with the Cavalli LCX + SDAC. Not too shabby. If I wasn't such a gearhead and OTL fan I could stop right here and be eternally happy. Love the Sennheiser HD6XX, too. Not quite as good as the Elex but easily as enjoyable.
MichaelAndaHow would you compare eikon to verite closed? Less mid bass/ more neutral on VC?
i am impressed how much soundstage my atticus has for being closed back. My test on soundstage is watching movies and they sound more open than my other closed backs ( alpha dogs )
MarcSpenceSorry, I don't get here too often sometimes. I don't have any real point of reference. I'm a snowbird and have different resources in different locations. The Eikon's are up north and the Verite Closed are down south. The closed back Eikon's are distinctly "open" sounding as well. I do have the same amp available to me in Florida but the DAC's are different as well as my interconnects. I will try to get some sort of impression comparison to you one day. We don't return north until Mid May at the earliest. LOVE both sets of headphones is about all I can tell you right now. They are distinctly different. I kind of think of the comparison between the Sennheiser HD 6xx and the Sennheiser HD 580 Jubilee in the sense of one sounding more "natural" than the other. Both hyper enjoyable but one just sounds more "right" than the other somehow. Not a big hairy deal sort of thing but there is just something about the Eikon's that impresses more. Maybe it's just the fact that the Eikon is half the cost of the Verite Closed. I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that I have a higher end DAC running in the Eikon setup. Trust me when I say I'm probably not going to be much help. :-)
MarcSpenceI had been using a Chord Qutest that was temporarily available due to my speaker based system being in flux in my Minneapolis residence. I expect to be using a Bluetooth Topping D70 in both systems when they ship in April.
