But this won the poll? Why is the varmillo one dropping and not this? the varmilo is good but they charge you more, give you less options, and take longer to ship then buying one directly from the company???? Thanks MD I can wait two more years
Considering the Revo Design (with aluminum case) is $149.99, I'd definitely jump on the Leopold since it would match my Varmilos perfect. I also much prefer the key layout on the Leopold. Bluetooth would be amazing for the times I need a numpad. I'm sure if it was true numpad, I could find more use with macros and other key mappings.
budleyI just selected my customization options for the Revo and it came out to $180 after shipping was added and there is no way I can justify that, unfortunately. I'm not really interested in wireless accessories for the most part, but a numpad would be perfect for wireless to me. I could buy some cheapo membrane one and keep it in my desk drawer and, while convenient, that would be so boring and unfulfilling! I'd like a mechanical one that looks like a true piece of artwork on my desk and feels pleasurable to use. I wouldn't use it often, but it could sure be nice to look at all times, and if it was wireless, it could be that much better. Varmilo has the experience and already sell a TKL with wireless. The design is already there from Leopold. They could make it happen.
There was a thread on Reddit saying the newer model of this number pad does actual numpad codes now. Hoping this drops again so I can get it with a black case and blue switches!
drmntlThat would be awesome if it did. Here's to hoping this drop gets a revival with the revised mapping which, I believe, probably killed the earlier one.
Fucking. Hell. I'm mad about you Massdrop...
I was SO happy. The Keypad is VERY well built, the finish of the blue plastic is quite ok, love the grey keycaps with laser-engraved with infill. It's a beauty. It even reached France quite fast compared to my last order...
Then I plugged it. And basically, it's a beautiful paperweight... 56 dollars wasted (with shipping). Next time you FREAKING DROP THIS THING, do a NICE BOLD TXT about how it is NOT A NUMPAD but a dumb USB keyboard device, acting as a Row5!!! I usually love Leopold but this thing is a SCAM and next mail is for the support of Massdrop.
Let me explain: basically this thing is useless with ANY keymap but some US kind of keymap, the ones with direct access to number on the MAIN keyboard. With French (and LOTS of other languages), we have to press SHIFT for numbers. Guess what. Since this thing don't use propre keycodes (the REAL numpad keycodes) it's just useless. Or I need to press shift on my keyboard at the same time to not output things like &é"'(§è instead of 1234567... You get the point. Back to the Filco for me...
TL;DR : stay AWAY from this if you want a REAL numeric keypad. (and yeah, it will not work in games as keypad specific macro / shortcuts too, if that wasn't clear)...
Sooo, I have to say that Massdrop did a wonderful job correcting this problem. I sent it back and got my money back for the keypad and shipping fees. Can't complain, let's just hope that the descriptions will be better from now on. ;)
