Solo Straw

If you’re traveling solo and want a safe and simple way to squat down and get your fill of lake or river water, use the LifeStraw Personal Water Filter. Weighing only 2 ounces and compact enough to place in your pocket, the LifeStraw removes 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa to instantly raise your water source to US EPA drinking standards.

Operation

You use the LifeStraw like a regular straw, in that you place the bottom in untreated water and begin drawing. The water runs through a hollow fiber membrane that removes bacteria, reduces turbidity, and imparts no additional aftertaste. Originally designed for emergency situations, one LifeStraw can filter up to 264 gallons and the construction is entirely BPA and chemical-free.
