Product Description
Made for the EDC Community, the Massdrop Brass AAA Pocket Flashlight is about the size of a tube of chapstick—but it pumps out 110 lumens and casts a beam as far as 154 feet (with the CREE XP-G2 R5 LED). Despite measuring less than 3 inches long, it weighs 1.5 ounces for a substantial feel in the hand ... Read More

I've had the Nichia version for 11 months. I've used it every day. I've even dropped it a few times on a hardwood floor. Mine has worked flawlessly. The reviews have been good and its reputation in the forums is strong. Reading the comments here though... Is this a vocal minority who had problems or did I just get lucky? For those who had problems, which version is it?

I've had mine for 11 months now. I use it every day. I've accidentally dropped it on a hardwood floor more than once. It still works flawlessly.

I am very happy for you. Your experience clearly is not the norm in regards to the performance of this faulty half assed product.

Mine failed. It also turned itself on and ran down the battery many times. Junk. Its also a copy of the CountyCom light and is nearly copywrite infringement/fraud whatever. My County Com still runs great.

Here's mine. The magnifyer on the lense really dominates. Its like a spot light in your pocket. Buy this not that. https://countycomm.com/collections/view-all-light-products/products/copper-tactical-personal-flood-tpf-aaa-light-by-maratac

I'm going to pass on this one. It's just under my 3 inch minimum (2.9) and I could overlook that for brass, but the AAA only format is a show stopper for me. For that much money I want the option to use rechargeable Lithium batteries.

I've been using this flashlight daily for 11 months. With AAA, it's definitely not a tactical light. However, it is extremely handy. The low is very usable without hurting night vision. The medium is plenty for most indoor applications. The high is pretty bright for 1x AAA and has a nice sunny color with the Nichia. I use mine with rechargeable Eneloop Pro.

Just so everyone is aware, this light is shipping with a 219c, not the 219b. The pictures show a 219b which is dishonest as to what is being delivered. Don't get me wrong, the 219c is a very nice emitter, but it's not the highly sought after and discontinued 219b.

I emailed Massdrop about this. I don't think they were being dishonest. They either forgot to update the page or didn't notice when the manufacturer switched to 219C. They emailed me back and fixed the page within a day. It is now corrected.

This flashlight and all of its color variations are based upon the same design. Its nice and its good looking. However, there have been countless reports of the light coming on in a pocket draining the battery to ZERO. This is defect as the button is so sensitive it takes zero force to activate. Why would anyone think this is a good design choice? I am at a complete loss as to why this device continues to be re-manufactured with such a sensitive button. Is it really that hard to fix this issue? How about a twist switch. Easy to use and totally eliminates the problem. Come on MassDrop are you listening to your customers?

You know you can twist the head to switch it off more permanently or just change modes after initial waking up with button?

The button is sensitive and unprotected. That's nice for use but not so good in some kinds of pocket environment. It's just a matter of understanding the feature and planning accordingly. (For instance, I'll only use twisty lights on a keychain.) This light either gets clipped into a small pocket or organizer, or carried loose in a shirt pocket where it doesn't get pressed.

I love the design of this, but with all the reports of shoddy QC, I don’t think I’m going to get one. Is there a flashlight out there that’s very similar to this one but with better QC?
