When I plug my custom cable into the CTRL, the lights go very bright and then dim down immediately. Anyone know the reason behind this and if there is a fix?

BigOuncebest shot would be to submit a support ticket. I don't unplug my boards very often so it doesn't affect me. If you really want to get fancy you can pull up the QMK source code and optimize it for startup, but you'd have to spend some time coding in C to make that happen
