New to audiophile headphones, would these be ok using the 3.5mm input into my PC which has on board sound blaster audio. My Mobo is the MSI H97 Gaming 3. I understand an external DAC/AMP is probably the best way to take full advantage of these headphones.

cazaYou can but the bass will be muddy. Plus your max volume will be very low.

cazaThat board has headphone amplifiers built into it. It claims to support up to 600 ohms, so it very well may do fine. I'd give it a listen before spending money on a DAC/AMP and see if you're satisfied or not.

J.CleverlyI might buy next time they drop, aussie dollar is horrible and might try entry level audiophile headphones to test my mobo and if my ears can hear a noticeable difference. Any recommendations on headphones leaning towards bass/dance music, I was thinking of m40xs.
