Sadly I seem to be having an issue with this device on my mac...
When I stop playing audio, after maybe a minute or two of silence the SDAC will not start playing audio again til I unplug it and plug it in again. It's quite frustrating as this means I have to have some audio playing constantly to be able to use the SDAC.
Is anyone else having this same issue? What is the solution?
omcnoeHaving the same issue here. I've been unplugging and it seems to make audio start playing again. This isn't ideal at all but it has been my workaround. I don't see this issue happen in Windows. I wonder if this is some power-savings setting in macOS.
omcnoeI am having the same issue as well. Responding in the hopes for more visibility.
For reference I am using a 16" MBP plugged into a USB Dongle.
Edit: running Catalina v10.15.4
omcnoeI'm also having this issue. I've tested this issue on two different MacBook pros (2017 vs 2018) with the same OS and found that it only happens on the newer Macbook but works fine on the older one.
omcnoeTo everyone else reporting this issue, I have found that using the SDAC with a different USBC dongle fixed the issue for me. I now have a simple USBC to single USB 2.0 adapter, and have had no issues since.
omcnoeFeels like power management "feature" on MacOS. Thanks for sharing. I'm going nuts when it's happens
(MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports - MacOS Catalina 15.15.5)
omcnoeI use multiple DAC's on my Mac mini and only the SDAC seems not to reconnect when you switch to another DAC and back to it. The Mac sees it but there's no audio. The solution that worked for me was using two sets on 12 port powered USB hubs and connection only USB 3 devices to one one hub and USB 2 and USB 1 to there other hub. Or make sure you don't mix it with devices using USB 3 using the same hub.
omcnoeYep, same issue here... I'll update my reply if I find something about this.
edit: solved it for myself, turns out that I have the Grace SDAC *Balanced*, and I was using it in USB v1 mode (the only option for the single ended version) - switching to USB v2 solved the issue for me.
