Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Again I wouldn't have such an issue if they hadn't made such grandiose claims. I paid similar amount for a blah pair of Brainwavz from massdrop that I'll probably never listen to. But I knew buying them was a crapshoot and took the chance like I've done with many IEMS and headphones. But describing these as audiophile was irresponsible and frankly dishonest (yet another example of hyperbole in the headphone community). It makes it difficult for me to trust this company. Unfortunately this type of misleading hype seems to be the norm (especially with headfi which massdrop seems to be closely connected to).
I RARELY comment on any purchase I make b/c I find the banter back and forth annoying and counterproductive (and there's little to be gained by playing the "I have a bigger dick" game). BUT, I commented on these b/c of the absurdity of the hype--which was exacerbated by the ridiculous amount of time it took to get these (which further built up the anticipation). I am growing tired of the corporate BS that is deeply entrenched in the headfi community (and taints MANY reviews in that forum). Given Massdrop's connection to headfi, I am frustrated to see that culture invading yet another forum/marketplace for audio gear (watch Jude's review of the Fostex TH-X00 for a perfect example of this).
While the re-00's were relatively inexpensive, they were marketed as "entry-level audiophile" IEM's. Given Massdrop's non-existent return policy, their descriptions are especially important--since the customer has no recourse if the product doesn't fit the hype (note btw that Massdrop is offering a refund on these citing the missing case as a reason....kind of unusual given their policies....perhaps they recognize the problem with these IEMs, but are hiding behind production issues). These are NOT anywhere near audiophile quality and thus my comments.
