I'm... disappointed.
I know further details are still to come, but I was hoping for ISO layout, DIY kit so I could choose my own switches and keycaps, and proper USB pass-through.
I'm actually "OK" with ANSI layout, but personally can't do without the UK specific keys (2 3 4 # etc.). Was really hoping to try Zealios with this board. I've recently gone from using Cherry Browns to Clears, kinda feel like the clears are a little too stiff for me, but like the additional bottom out cushioning they give over browns.
No doubt someone will want to chime in that the switches are hot-swappable, and keycaps are obviously easy to change... but that's all additional cost for components I wouldn't be using. Then factor in 20% VAT + import duty and shipping to the UK!
So, looks like I'll pass on this initial drop, but will certainly keep an eye on future developments.
Raithmir+1 for lack of ISO. I have an ansi board now as a danish person, and.. it's just a worse layout in every conceivable way. Even if I moved to the states and never typed another danish word and only typed english, I'd still only look at ISO from now on.
As an side, I could not imagine an ANSI user being disappointed that they be forced to use ISO. Massdrop really needs to wake up to the fact that a large part of the community wants ISO in everything.
xlartiYeah I certainly always prefer ISO. I'm currently getting used to typing on a Whitefox with the "Aria" layout. The ISO layout for the Whitefox uses 1.0 sized bottom row keys that aren't available in many keycap sets, and doesn't have that gap to the cursor keys that I like. So the Aria is the best compromise IMO, with only one odd sized key (right shift).
Looks like choosing a PCB and building a fully customised board is going to be the way to go!
xlartiWe do not have any plans to support ISO with this keyboard in the future. Due to a few factors we cannot support multiple layouts on one PCB or the case.
RaithmirAnother +1 for ISO (UK) support, it looks like such an amazing board otherwise.
Also interested to see how much shipping to the UK will be for this...
