The KSC75 is a beautiful sounding headphones, however the connecting wires is very frail with constant usage.
How can you mod them to MMCX or 2 pin cable connection?
I didn't mod the connection type. I opened them up - very easy to do - and went down to the dollar store and got some resin/hardener glue and mixed some up. I put a bit of resin over the wires where they are soldered on and let it dry then reassembled. The resin is non conductive so it works well. Those wires are not coming off
holsenHello, I'm picking up a pair of these for myself. I have the Porta-Pros, and these look like a similar perfect setup. I wildly prefer over ear sets than earbuds because you can make conversation and hear ambient noise (like approaching traffic) if you don't have them overly loud. I also might pickup a pair for my brother if he's too cheap even with my referral discount. Would the UV light-hardened stuff work? Honestly wouldn't have a clue where to get resin aside from overpaying for the sugru junk.
flynhghrHi there. Yeah that UV light stuff should work as long as it's non conductive and I dont believe it is. I never used the set I bought. I picked them up for my wife who wont put anything in her ears; turns out that she wont put anything over them either. If you want a nice discount, I could sell you mine for $15 shipping included. The only problem is I live in Canada 7 miles from the Washington State Border in Point Roberts where I ship everything to and everything from and the Border is closed at the moment. I figure it'll reopen around Easter. Anyway. Dollar General should have the Epoxy for cheap. Home depot would have it too, but that UV light stuff should also work.
holsenIf they're the ones you modded to be tougher I'm 100% open to taking them off your hands. My brother is chair-bound and not the most graceful person, so he is HARD on stuff. His b-day isn't until late fall, so these aren't going to be a special occasion gift. I just want him to experience how good of sound can come from a headset that's over-ear, plus the safety aspect of ambient noise. These are also ideal for guys with plus sized craniums, no headband to get stretched out/stressed. My alias is my email at the google mail if you wanna HMU.
holsenI found this entire conversation relatable and touching, for some reason.
BTW, I bought my wife a pair of Bose Noise Canceling BT HPs, but she has ditched it for the Koss kph30i.
I modded mine by following the instructions of this video, https://youtu.be/ftbYHYe29f4. The video is for Porta-Pro, but they are mostly the same set up.
Fine for weightlifting (all sorts), martial arts practice, stretching (even inversions for the most part), treadmill. Pretty much all I do. The KSC-75 has been my go to for the gym for 15 years now.
There technically "shouldn't" be since it's the same other than the color of the plastic and the wire is different and has microphone and button on the Drop version, but many people, including myself, do hear a difference, with the regular KSC75 sounding slightly better. Perhaps the thicker wire and lack of microphone and button allow for better audio signal? Either way, the difference is relatively minor. I would say that if you need the in-line mic, then get the Drop version and if you don't need/want the in-line mic and don't mind the silver color instead of black, then get the regular ones for possibly? better sound quality.
